Shadow of Naros Al-Miir

Once there was a mighty prince of a desert tribe who feared for his people. The prince worried that the mighty Demurran Empire would one day sweep down through the pass in the Western Mountains, lay waste to all he held dear, slaughter and enslave his people, crush his culture as the Empire had crushed so many before it. And so the prince called a gathering of the tribes at an oasis near the pass through the mountains. Thirteen tribes answered the prince's call, but they were a bickering lot, more dangerous to each other than the coming Empire. So the prince called on a mighty wizard to fashion him a device that could do the impossible -- a device which could make the Thirteen Tribes put aside their differences and unite against a common threat. And the prince used this device, and with their hearts settled, the heads of the other tribes agreed with the prince that something had to be done.

The Thirteen Tribes built a great tower at the base of the pass, and named it Miir, an ancient word for peace. And the great prince organized the tribes into a mighty force that could turn the empire aside. He placed the device into the heart of the Tower, so it would always keep the peace it had forged. There he ruled for many years, until he was slain by an assassin's blade. But some say that by the time his body was killed, his heart had already left, and had entered the Tower. And they say the ghost of Naros Al-Miir watches his city still.
