The Shadow of Greed is depicted as pig-faced man adorned in the robes of a Pardoner, an alms-box in one hand and a leg of mutton in the other. It is said that Greed appears, first asking, then begging, then demanding tribute, shaking the alms-box with increasing instance until it is given a coin. The legend says that Greed knows many secrets, but will not part with them unless paid a dear price – the information it gives is invariably cursed in some way, and brings the asker misery.
