Shadow of The Imperial Governor

There was a dark period in Miir's history when the Empire, unable to capture Miir by force, resorted to trickery and betrayal to enter the city under cover of darkness and seize the Tower.

The Emperor, to show the "filthy barbarians of Ivthia" who was now in charge, inflicted upon it the very worst governor he could find to punish the city for defying his might for so long.

The governor and his son came to Miir from the frozen lands up north, and they despised the city and it's people. For years, The Governor brutally suppressed Miirian culture and traditions, trying to mold the people into "proper Imperial citizens." Many were the cruel tortures he inflicted on those who resisted or defied him.

But when his own son was captured after poisoning the Lake and killing dozens, The Governor showed mercy, and sent his son into exile instead of beheading him. And this was his mistake, for you must never show mercy to one who has poisoned a well, for that not only kills people but the spirit of the land itself. For this act, The Shadows Themselves were offended, and the people rose in open revolt. The Nobles of the Great Houses captured the Governor, and inflicted on him many of the indignities and cruelties he had inflicted on others, until finally he begged to die.

They say, though, his restless spirit roams the streets still, and has his revenge on any who have the misfortune of seeing him.
