House Al-Ghul was a minor house that dwelled at the fringes of Miir, collecting the dead and preparing them for burial. They were shunned as unclean and accused of all manner of unseemly behaviors and unholy appetites.

When the Empire sought allies within Miir to weaken it from within, they found the Al-Ghuls, wretched and envious of the more respected Houses. The Empire and the Al-Ghuls collaborated, for the Al-Ghul knew many secret ways through The Belly, and thus was Miir, which had stood against the Empire for hundreds of years, captured. The Empire made the Al-Ghul their mouthpieces to the people, and their fortunes blossomed.

But when the Empire was cast out of Miir, the Al-Ghul's fate was sealed. The clan was scattered to the winds, and the nine trecherous Elders who ruled the House were Exiled to The Shadows. It is said they wander still, cursed with unliving forms, feasting on the dead and diseased, and dreaming of the day when they may at last be released from their torment.
