Raoul Picard, more commonly known as Prosper, is a pale Garamondi dressed in clothes that were fine, once upon a time, but are now ragged and threadbare. Prosper trains children in the fine arts of begging, picking pockets, and burglary, furthering the stereotype among Miirians that Garamondi are shiftless thieves. He tells himself that he's helping out the poor unfortunate souls that have slipped through the cracks and need someone watching out for them. It's the lie that helps him sleep at night, well-fed and comfortable, while his "charges" sleep on filthy pallets after a meal of soup so thin it's practically water.
