Sometimes, the nightmares of Miir walk the streets in the flesh. The Fihyr are horrors, worries, and anxieties pulled from a sleeping mind and given unholy life by the residual magics in and around Miir. In this, they are similar to The Shadows, but the Fihyr are not quite as solid, not as defined. They are general anxieties, not legends brought to life, and have more in common with the Hungry Darkness -- they appear, cause trouble for as long as they exist, and then fade with the coming of dawn.

A Mesmeric Devourer is born from anxieties about being trapped by crowds, swept along by mob panic and drawn to one's death in a heard. It manifests as a horrid floating mass of eyes, mouths, and grasping tendrils, whispering ceaselessly in a voice that is just on the edge of comprehensible. The whispers draw a person in, then confuse their actions as the Devourer descends upon them to feed.
