Symbies, also known as cat spirits, are intangible beings that possess and bind themselves to the dead, breathing life back into the corpse. If done soon enough after death, it may appear to those closest to the deceased that their loved ones merely survived a brush with eternity. The Symbie masquerades as the person and slowly distance themselves from their host's former friends and family until they are leading entirely new lives.
