Thadrun the Smith

Thadrun has happily served as one of the smiths of Sandpoint Garrison for nearly 7 years, almost as long as he's been in the small town. In his mid-70s (so still in the prime of his life for a dwarf), Thad came to town looking for adventure, and instead found contentment. His wife, Emmaralee Battlehorn, was raised by an unconventional dwarf (Guildmaster of the Sandpoint Carpenter's Guild), which could explain why she and Thad got on so well, in spite of his single-(and somehow still absent-)minded devotion to the other two loves of his life: discovering lost histories, and magical items.

Like clockwork, several days of the week (after he finishes his work at the Garrison), Thadrun can be seen making his way to every shop in town that sells magical equipment in order to help examine (and log in his own private, ever present journal) any new acquisitions. Any shopkeep that was initially hesitant to allow this stranger access to their expensive items were soon worn down by his relentless interest, not to mention his straightforward good nature and trustworthiness.

Thad doesn't make promises, and no one asks him to: his word binds him as strong as anything he's constructed in his forge.

Among his other interests, Thad can always be counted on to bring his traditional dwarven "Sheetrock Casserole" to any party in town, and can similarly be expected to leave the cast-iron dish that he brought it in; rather than ask for it back, though, he simply makes a new one, so now nearly every baker or party-thrower in Sandpoint has one of his "Thad-iron" dishes.

He can also be seen talking with the various "intellectuals" in town about magic, history, the weather, anything that anyone is willing to discuss.

In appearance, Thad has bronze-colored skin and fiery red hair and beard, prematurely streaked with white. He is slim for a dwarf, completely sans-armor, choosing instead to wear tough-but-comfortable canvas clothing in various shades of gray and red. More often than not, he is still wearing his smith's apron any time he can be seen around town, likely simply because he forgot he was wearing it.
