Caeli

Caeli, Bard

Female Soulless Giomorgo

Currently aged 19

Height: 5'9". Weight: 132 lb. Eyes: Black/Blue. Hair:  Black Distinguishing features: beauty

Caeli is beautiful but many Barovians find her unsettlingly foreign. Her body is not the thick-set typical but lithe and curvy. Her eyes are two colored, black and blue, while her hair is jet black with a few chocolate streaks. When she lets it out of its braid, it flows in waves over her back. Caeli has delicate elfin features with a wry twist to her mouth. She typically wears tight fitting pants and a loose shirt with a tight vest. She tends toward the more typically somber colors for her clothing. She is almost never seen without her lute and drum and only occasionally leaves her shortbow and quarterstaff behind. Caeli is a practiced healer and shows genuine concern for the sick and injured.

Caeli Sudic-Kudancin was born to a Vistani father and outlander mother. Her mother had befriended the Vistani in her time in Barovia and they allowed her to travel with them. They tolerated her daughter as long as she was alive. When Caeli was 7, her mother died. Caeli was unceremoniously left with a Vallaki orphanage. Still, she recalls the language and many songs of her people. She holds a small amount of ire towards the clan which abandoned her but wants, more, to rejoin a Vistani clan. She thinks, perhaps unreasonably, she would be less an outcast there. Her memories of that time are deeply biased.

At the orphanage, Caeli believes she first experienced prejudice. The headmistress and other children all avoided her foreign looks. She was bullied and abused. She closed herself off and would often speak only Patterna to hide her emotions. She played by herself, sang Vistani songs, and made up stories about her future constantly. Strangely, she was happy in a warped way.

However, when she was 13 a fellow Giomorgo, Danior Mircea, spied her one day and began to talk to her. The man was a Bard of the College of Whispers. Within days, he convinced her to run away with him as his apprentice. He taught her how to manipulate people, plays songs, and even spellcasting. Caeli appreciated him and worshiped him; he took advantage of her and abused her. It took five years before the film was torn from her eyes and she snuck away one night. Until then, she often slept in barns or common rooms when the pair could afford it or exchange their service. More than occasionally, she shared his bed. She still could not say if it was willing or unwilling. Eventually, it would be one more factor in her leaving him.

Since then, she has spent most nights on the streets but occasionally convinces an innkeep to let her sleep in a bed in exchange for song. She plies her other trade as well to secure resources and accommodations: both manipulation and beauty. Her life is hard but she still has a bright demeanor. She wants to rejoin the Vistani so she can escape Barovia.
