Maeve was born and grew up in and around Lake Reykal, near New Stetven. While her youth was filled with caution about the mortal races that made up the population, it became readily apparent as she got older that she had more than a bit of nymph coursing through her blood. Not content to simply stay in her waters, she began to explore smaller settlements along the rivers, and eventually the major cities around 'her' lake. As she did, her fey nature began to show more properly, finding the mortals interesting but rather boorish, especially their attitudes toward the more unusual races.

Maeve's nature is that of a hedonist and collector, she has a great deal of love for those who catch her eye, but she can also be flighty and capricious. Her longest companion is young Cassandra, her 'Winter Rose'. She's known the woman for quite a long time, having saved her from drowning in her lake. Their relationship grew from curious friends to on and off lovers, though Cassandra's desire to be her protector amuses her greatly, and she won't say no to it.
