Tatum Quinn

The Basics

Name: Tatum Quinn

Nickname(s): Tate

True Age: 24

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Species: Cursed Shapeshifter, Red Fox

The Physical

Height: 5’ 8”

Weight: 120 lb

Physical Description: Tatum is a tall thin girl standing at 5' 8" and weighing in at 120 pounds. Her model-like figure is very well-proportioned but her long legs always seem to draw attention to her as well as her naturally red hair that reaches her upper back. She has modest curves, but not to the point that they seem to look unnatural for her body type.

Her skin is pale and covered in freckles which makes her burn very easily when out in the sun instead getting a nice golden tan. Her facial features are soft and expressive, betraying her friendliness and her inquisitive curiosity about everything that is new to her.

Tatum has two different styles and appearances depending on where she is when you catch her. At home when she is working on her art she is typically barefaced or with the remnants of yesterday's makeup, with her long red haired piled up on top of her head in a messy bun and wearing comfortable clothes that she doesn't mind getting messy, usually yoga pants or shorts and a tank top.

When she goes out in public though she looks like a totally different person. She typically will put great care into her appearance, wearing stylish and trendy clothes that tend to be on the more feminine side of things and rarely leaves without her hair looking nice or makeup on her face, unless of course you catch her running to get coffee in the morning. Her makeup however is usually every subtle, typically in more natural or neutral colors with her lipstick being the only brightly colored statement (often a bold red).

Distinguishing Marks: Her bright red hair and freckles.

Face Claim: Alina Kovalenko

The Preternatural

Species: Cursed Shapeshifter, Red Fox

Classification: Cursed

Powers/Abilities: The only abilities that Tatum possesses are those the come standard with all Shapeshifters, however she doesn't get the added bonus of the preternatural enhancements.

* Decreased Aging - Shapeshifters are not immortal like vampires, but they have extremely decreased aging and tend to live far beyond the lifespan of a human. Since she has only been a shifter for a shirt while, she is currently unaware of this.

* Animal Form - All Shapeshifters have one animal for that they can take. They are able to shift to this form at all and for the most part retain their human mind as an animal. Tatum is able to take on the form of a small Red Fox.

* Partial Shifting - Shapeshifters are able to have a temporary partial shift allowing them to manifest certain features of their animal form while still appearing mostly human. Partial changes include but are not limited to claws, animal senses and eyesight and teeth. Tatum cannot make this changes on purposefully and lately they have been happening spontaneously.

Weaknesses: Tatum has the standard weaknesses of her kind plus one that is specific to her curse.

* Stress Sensitivity - While Shapeshifters may have enhanced senses, at their core they are still human making them susceptible to human stressors. In times of enhanced stress, Shifters may become overwhelmed and develop intense headaches. In the past these headaches would cause Shifters to lose almost all ability to function normal when they were occurring, but thanks to modern medical advances, most Shapeshifters carry around an emergency antidote either in pill or injectable form.

* Injury Reversion - If a shapeshiter sustains a moderate to major injury while in their animal form, they will immediately revert back to their human selves due to the stress on the body.

* Draw of the Moon - All Shifters will feel an urge to become change at the full moon and although they do not have to change, they will experience drastic changes in moods such as increased irritability and anger. Many of these mood changes will seem to be out of character. Ignoring the Draw of the Moon is a bit like Shapeshifter PMS.

* Lack of Control - Tatum has absolutely no control over her abilities and more often than not has no idea when a shift is coming. Lately the shifts have been happening more and more frequently at seeming random times and intervals. She doesn't know how to change at will.

The Personal

Personality Description: Throughout her life, Tatum has always tried to stay optimist about things even then times are looking grim. She'll search for the one good thing (which she believes is always there) and holds onto that for hope to make it through and come out better on the other side. Her positive nature allows her to make friends quickly people generally like spending time around her.

She's quite friendly to all, but describes herself as neither introverted or extroverted, she just herself and doesn't feel like putting a label on it. Some night she prefers to go out while others she prefers to just stay home to watch movies and drink beer by the fire.

Often she's happy to be the hostess of the group and often took on that motherly role for all her friends while they were busy getting wasted in college. Thats not to say that she doesn't enjoy partaking in an alcoholic beverage or 4 too sometimes, she just also done't mind if she ends up being the one to make sure that everyone got home safe.

If given the choice, Tatum would rather spend her free time outdoors rather than indoors and often can be found sitting under a tree with her sketchbook. She finds happiness in the sounds of birds singing, water bubbling in a stream, and the wind blowing through the leaves.

One the other side of the spectrum she also embraces being a nerd at heart and has probably read all of the major fantasy series that you can think of, her favorites being anything by Tolkien.

Likes: IPAs, a good book, and a nice breeze in her hair.

Dislikes: Rain, cheap beer, her curse

Occupation: Freelance artist, can't hold a stable job currently due to the spontaneous nature of her curse.

History: Tatum was the only daughter in a family that had 4 sons but didn't mind that at all, she actually loved growing up with brothers and thanks them for turning out the way that she did today. She was the third born child and loved having two older brothers to look out for her and the little brother for her to take care of.

Her family was relatively well-off but didn't take pride in the amount of physical things that their money could buy. Instead they spent it on experiences for their children and before the age of 18 Tatum had been to almost every state in the continental US and visited the national parks everywhere she went. The family often took long road trips where they would travel around an entire state, seeing everything that it had to offer. This was made possible by home-schooling the children and is an experience that Tatum wouldn't trade for anything.

Everywhere they went she found inspiration for the wonders of nature around them and eventually found her way to express her love for the world around her in art. From that point on she always had her sketchbook on her, drawing and painting all the views of the world around her. Most of her early artworks were all of landscapes and nature, but eventually she branched out and started experimenting with different mediums and styles.

Eventually Tatum applied to and was accepted into a university and pursued and double major in Fine Arts and Digital Design. Even though it was her first time being at a school with people other than her brothers, she seamlessly fell into the pattern and no one would have ever guessed that she had always been homeschooled.

It was during her time at school that she met Matthias Maddox and the two became fast friends. She was fascinated by the fact that he was a witch and was always asking him to show her what he could do, occasionally offering to also be his test subject.

One of these magical experiments involved transforming Tatum into a red fox. There wasn't much of a reason behind it other than trying to see if he could to it, and when they finally tried it succeeded and Tatum was able to hold the fox for from a couple of hours before transforming back into a human. At this time the two thought that it was just a one off thing

A few months later, Tatum was offered a illustrator position that she couldn't pass up and dropped out of school, moving across the country for work. For a year things seemed to be going well but a full moon, almost exactly one year after they turned her into a fox, she found herself transforming back into the creature and was stuck for the entire night. The next day she went back to her daily life and didn't have another incident for a few more months.

After that it started happening more and more frequently, eventually getting to the point where she was transforming every full moon and then even more regular. She never knew when she would become a fox, it started happening at all times of the month and all times of the day and no matter how hard she tried to find a pattern she couldn't figure out what was triggering it.

It got to the point where she had to leave her job and set off to try and find Matt, hoping that he could fix whatever this was that was happening to her. Her journey led her to Elysium as her curse get worsening, to the point where she is now, sometimes shifting multiple times per day.
