Khalem Derros

Name: Khalem (pronounced KAY-lum) Derros
Race: Human
Age: Mid 30s
Hair: Dark, dirty-blond
Eyes: Pale blue-gray - almost hauntingly pale.
Occupation: Mercenary
Description:

Notes:
Hair: Shorn on the sides – not to skin, but stubble.  Top is just long enough to be swept back, but not long enough for a tail.

Eyes: VERY pale blue…almost a blue-gray, a haunting (and haunted) pair of eyes.

Body: Strong and muscular.  Tall.  6’6”-ish.  Broad shouldered.  Solid, corded muscle.  Heavily inked – Back and shoulders, trapezius and throat…sleeves down both arms.  Abdomen imagery runs down the Adonis belt and into the groin/upper thigh work.  Calf muscles have heavy knotwork.  The elvish script on his chest (pecs and slats) are his oaths.  Ancient symbol for power running up behind the left ear – Vengeance behind the right.

He also often paints a line of medium to dark blue woad over his right eye - running from his hairline to his jaw.

Piercings – Two gauges on each ear lobe (first is large, but not too large – second is smaller) – Loop in the helix of the right ear, loop in the Tragus of the left ear.  Prince Albert…

Dresses: Rough and rugged – well worn leathers when not in armor.  Heavy boots.  Tight trousers.  Almost always has his mailed gauntlets.

Armor is…something (still deciding).  The metal was once bright and shiny, cared for – despite his dubious past, he kept himself originally well groomed.  Now it seemed tarnish, stained – as if it’s been burned.  The darker he gets, the more tarnished the armor becomes…

History: Khalem was well-respected member of a watch of some random city.  He could not be bought…but he did like the darker side of life – drinking, whoring, fighting, gambling.  He would arrest anyone he caught committing harder crimes, but these?  They were his life.

A young paladin was assigned to be his partner.  Fort he first few months – he kept the kid clean and out of it.  The pally was a good kid. Smart.  Funny – charming.  Eventually he found out what Khalem enjoyed and, in his naivety, the Pally thought if this outstanding man who brought in thieves and murderers could partake in a little vice, it must not be too harmful.  Sadly, pally-boy had more courage and daring than brains or will – and he fell.  Hard.  Eventually it killed him – because he got into the things even Khalem would not touch.

This broke the soldier and he became more of a wandering mercenary – taking an oath to bring the darker side of crime down, despite his love of certain vices (which he still partakes).

A few years later, he’s traveling in (insert city here), between jobs…when he sees a trio trying to stuff a rather exotic, gorgeous elf into a sack.  Thinking it’s a simple abduction…or possibly something more sinister – he steps in and puts a rather violent stop to it – leaving three bodies and a disheveled, gorgeous, and grateful dancer that he finds…capitvating.  Those eyes and that smile…they’re different, but there’s a carefree innocence that reminds him of a seventeen year-old paladin that was lost
