CHARACTER HISTORY: Born and raised in American Samoa, Ro grew up learning how to repair vehicles from her mechanic father as well as her two older brothers. When they developed a greater interest in football as they grew up, she became the ‘lead’ mechanic with her father. She also got excellent grades in math and science. Her brothers both got full football scholarships to the University of Oregon. Her father couldn’t afford to send her to college, though, so she sought other options—G.I. Bill; she joined the army. After her basic training, she was assigned to Sierra Army Depot in California where she worked on repairing tanks and other vehicles, but it also brought her into contact with biological    research.

After her 4-year hitch, she was able to get into CalPoly (California Polytechnic Institute) where she spent 6 years earning degrees in physics and biology.

Because of her military history, after she graduated from college, she worked in the ‘private sector’ (DARPA) for four years before being recruited into the Morrow Project.
