Bobbie

Vivienne--  She has only one name, is 24 years old, and a direct descendent in the maternal line of the daughter of Merlin and the sorceress Nimue (reference Mary  Stewart's 'The Last Enchantment'). She has been alone since her 21st birthday, when her mother just disappeared and never returned.

She has magical/prophetic powers, (that unfortunately aren't always reliable, which sometimes causes trouble) and supports herself with a 'fortune telling' booth at fairs.

Her booth at the fair is a yurt-like tent, dark purple with gold-paint trim.  The sign on a small banner over the entrance reads only "Ask".  She uses the front part for business and lives in the back part.  This construction can, and sometimes has been, dismantled and moved quickly.  She keeps an aging panel truck parked behind it for transportation when and as needed.

When 'reading' a customer, she can usually tell if he/she is lying, can frequently get a sense of impending good or bad fortune, and sometimes gets flashes of actual past or future events in the person's life.

As far as magic goes, her small magic (charms, small spells, etc.) always works, medium-level magic (hindering spells, finding spells, telekenesis, etc.) sometimes works, but except for very rare circumstances, she has no control of high magic (weather control, shape changing, killing spells, etc).

Physically, she is tall (5' 10"), slender, and strong for her size and sex, as she does all her own chores including setting up, tearing down, and loading her yurt and belongings.  And defending herself when needed.

With long sable-brown hair, grey eyes, and slightly exotic beauty, she is attractive to men, which is a help in her business.  But outside of business she is quiet and very reserved, not mixing socially with men or women.  There are many reasons for her reserve, not the least being that she occasionally can 'sense' (not mind-read) what others are thinking or feeling.

Vivienne's blood-line oral history was passed down from mother to daughter, since Nimue.  The names and details about the fathers are mostly omitted, but there is mention of an Irish seer, an Egyptian magician-priest, an African witchdoctor, and at least one Native American shaman.

The women of Vivienne's bloodline must never bind themselves to a man as his wife.  If one of them ever does, she will lose her powers, begin to bear only sons, and the line will be lost forever.  However, they may have physical relationships with men of their choosing whenever they wish.  But woe to any man who tries to force them!  They have the power to choose when and with whom they will bear the one daughter they must have to continue the bloodline.
