King Daen VII, the Uniter (or the Conqueror, depending on who you ask) was a firebrand of a young prince, always riding at the head of his father's armies with his band of knightly comrades, leading the charge to defeat the rebel armies in the Eastern marches. Under Daen's banner the upstarts were defeated, though he showed the rebellion's commanders and soldiers who surrendered honour and mercy, and the land reunited. The Northern states saw his success and decided that negotiation would be better than meeting this ambitious, energetic, gifted tactician on the battlefield. They sent the daughter of their senior guilder to seduce and court the young prince, still barely a man, and her feminine wiles ensnared him. Daen was soon wed to Serenia, though he found her cooler and more manipulative than she had presented herself. Still, at last the kingdom of Embria was whole again as it hadn't been for generations.

Since then, any passion and love has long faded. Daen is in his late thirties, and with his fathers passing inherited the throne. He has traded his mace for a sceptre, though he still enjoys hunts, and remains in fighting trim. Daen is a powerful, regal man, every inch the king. Standing six and half feet tall, he is muscular, strong-limbed and tough, his body baring the scars and wounds of his campaigning youth. He wears a short, pointed beard and his chestnut brown hair is pulled into a short pony tail, the temples flecked with silver, his handsome, wise, compassionate but fierce features firm and lined, with pale blue, farsighted eyes looking out on all he rules and guards.
