Personality:
Rick is animistic in his outlook and beliefs, truly believing that he is a 'intelligent omnivorous predatory animal'. He has a very strong instinct and intuition, what has been termed 'forerunners' that have allowed him to act properly on very little information. He's the tendency to be quite eccentric and invent catchy but disturbing memes without intending too. This was to prove a disadvantage until the Dominion War. An avid outdoors-man and a man of simple tastes he is still possessed of a fine intellect, especially when challenged.

Likes: Hunting, Fishing, 'Roughing it', and a Good Challenge.
Dislikes: Waste, City Living, and dealing with paperwork.

Background:
   Gregory, and Evet Walsh, had meet through the service when they both served on the USS Malinche. his Father quickly served his term of duty but his mother was solidly on her way to becoming Chief Petty Officer by the time Patrick was walking.
  While Patrick's older brother, Simon, was a calm, open minded man, the same was rarely said of Patrick. Patrick was always a bit eccentric and it only grew as his instinct and intuition developed fully as a teen. He was one to seek out the outdoors and passions of life, not read and teach about them. He was best when teaching by example and grew to tolerate paperwork as a necessary evil.

He began his service with as an enlisted man going for the infantry but was persuaded to become an  engineer due to natural ability. Six years later he was persuaded to accept a place in the Officer Candidate's School. He has resisted any urge to act as 'officer' material however.

Though He graduated in the top quarter of his class, he could have graduated higher with better social skills. He quickly tired of 'milk runs,' and transfered to the Federation Attack Fighter Squadron . The career change turned out to be a good move when just a few years later the Federation-Klingon War erupted. They needed someone with skills like his.


he found the experience during that time dwarfed by the war with the Dominion. After several raids, escort missions, and full out assaults he was transferred to work on Betazed as a battalion Commander. This earned him several commendations, medals, and even a field promotion. It was during a Embassy inspection of security that he felt the need to evacuate the premises. This was to lead to the establishment of The Betazoid Freedom Group (BFG) and formal resistance of what soon became the Dominion Occupation. Not only did he handle much of the combat planning, raids, and active resistance, but his disturbing memes soon found their way into anti-propaganda. Such slogans as; 'Dominion means Dominate, Duh!' and 'I don't trust them as far as I can spit a starship!', soon began to adorn the walls after resistance attacks. That earned him the nickname 'The Virus', by the Vorta.

When the Dominion occupation was overthrown they persuaded him to stay on as Commander of security and training of a new Starfleet Academy extension for new pilots at the Starbase. Since then he's been assigned duty after duty 'straightening out the mess' of other critical situations.
