Clockwork Carriage

Crafted to be a tireless means of secure transport for the rich and wealthy, along with cargo in a pulled wagon, a Clockwork Carriage is often capable of either trampling those who endanger its occupants or fleeing from threats it is ordered to escape from. Others with sufficient wealth have experimented with using Clockwork Carriages for battle as a means to quickly and quietly transport small elite squads to a destination and then support them with its crossbow turret.

Creation Cost: In a ritual that takes 30 days and consumes 20,000gp in materials, a spellcaster proficient with tinker tools contributes a 5th level spell slot each day to construct and animate the Clockwork Carriage. The spellcaster is considered the owner and creator for the purposes of what languages the Clockwork Carriage understands. Ownership of the Clockwork Carriage can be transferred to another with a special ritual which can be performed during the creation of the Clockwork Carriage. This ritual takes a week and consumes 1000gp worth of materials during which time the old owner, or its corpse, the new owner, and the Clockwork Carriage must be within 30 feet of each other for at least 8 hours a day. If the owner is killed, the Clockwork Carriage refuses to take any new orders until a new creature uses the ritual to claim ownership. Until then, Clockwork Carriage will defend itself from any attack but otherwise continue to follow its last orders.

Repairable: A mending cantrip cast on the Clockwork Carriage heals it of 2d6 points of damage.

Trampling Charge: If the Clockwork Carriage moves at least 20 feet straight towards a creature and then hits with its Piston Slam attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
