Jeremiah

Jeremiah, or 'Tall, Strong and Handsome' as some refer to him back home when he's not around, is an imposing figure. Over six feet in height, roughly shorn golden hair and with a smile conveying centuries of chivalry and gentility.

He was born gifted and excelled in all he did; on the training field as the son of a famous commander, in diplomacy where he mitigated many disputes between his comrades, and healing and theology under the tutelage of the local priesthood of Heironius.

He desired to become a Paladin, and trained as they did from an early age.
He would have made an exceptional Paladin, memorized the entirety of the code of Heironius and Knightly Chivalry in one week (easily done as he had unconsciously followed it for years) and became known to represent all that a Paladin should aspire to; compassion, strength and wisdom, but especially for his keen sense of alertness, which often surprises people who assume him to be sleeping or not paying attention.

There was only one calling for this benign young man, and it was obvious to all who knew him; the call of the Paladin. Of course this was an issue for one of middle class, so he was rejected from service numerous times. On his final application, he had gained the attentions of an aged Chevalier by the name of Stannis.

Stannis appeared one day at the Order over twenty years ago out of the blue, armoured in a full, beautifully crafted and obviously well used (but polished and cared for immaculately of course) plate mail and astride a truly intimidating specimen of a warhorse which has passed away since, but is the subject of local legend. Nobody knew where he came from or what his lineage, but he was not questioned further when he declared himself to be a military servant of Heironius, and that was that.

Stannis pulled Jeremiah aside after his weekly rejection from service and directed him to a small town where rumors of a plague had surfaced. After conferring with the Paladin superiors, they agreed that if Jeremiah could make progress in relieving the plague there, he would be allowed to call himself Armiger and progress as a Paladin should. Shortly after his first adventure there, a messenger tracked him and his companions down at their campsite of the night and called 'Hail, Armiger Jeremiah'. Since then his status was official.

He has continued this quest with his new companions, a Monk who met him on the way to his first adventure and a priest and suspiciously intelligent warrior who turned up at the inn where he began this quest.
