Sharog

Sharog is both an affirmation of every Orc stereotype that exists in the Dragon Empire, and a fierce challenge to those deeply entrenched prejudices. Like many Orcs that reside in the Empire, Sharog was born in the lower slums of a great metropolis. Her father was, apparently, some vicious corsair who had pirated the for years before being brought down. At least, that is the story her mother told her. Sharog's mother was a bouncer at several taverns and more colorful establishments, and was never able to rise above that career. She had the neither the ability to do so, or the desire. She knew what her abilities were, and her only true desire was providing a better life for her daughter. It is good then that Sharog's mother settled in the lower levels of Vespar on Aelding. Rough as it might be for a Throneworld, the benevolent rule of House Sarava gave Sharog opportunities she might otherwise not have had.

Despite being an Orc, Sharog had the right to basic schooling. And despite many fights over the years with fellow students, her grades were surprisingly high, despite her race. However, Sharog knew that despite her education, no one would give a lowly Orc any real chance to advance herself beyond menial labor or basic muscle like her mother. However, there was an organisation within the Empire that would happily allow anyone in, and might be happy indeed to include someone of her natural fighting abilities within their ranks: the Imperial Legion. Within that mighty military, she would find opportunities to earn prestige and pay beyond what she might otherwise have earned in her civilian life. Despite the politics of the upper echelons, the Imperial Legions were a meritocracy among the rank-and-file.

Indeed, when she initially joined the local Legion at age twelve, adulthood for an Orc, she was but one of the many faceless Legionaries. However, in the four years since, Sharog has made a fine account of herself. Unyielding in the face of danger, and thriving on the chaos of heavy battle, Sharog found herself slowly assigned to more and more front-line fighting, before some bright officer noticed her potential and assigned her to shock troop duty. For two years, she was always at the forefront, charging into heavy enemy fire with a savage grin on her lips, and a wicked axe in her hand.

Such was her tenacity, and fighting prowess, that she was inducted into the Silver Legion: a special forces unit dedicated to troubleshooting the worst incidents in the Domain of House Sarava, before a full army needs to be mobilized. For her part, Sharog is grateful to be so recognized and honored. Her plan seems to be unfolding better than she had hoped. And if she should die in service to the Emperor, then at least she showed all those snickering fools that assumed she would never amount to anything more than a dumb Orc.
