Fire Emblem - Nation of Blood

Dear Aegwyn,

I am writing to you now, because I want you to know that I am safe. Your mother, Lady DeLynn, saved me and my father, as well as a few others. She came to the Inn, dressed very discretely, to warn us of a raid the army was to preform, on my quarter of the outer ring. I think your father must have heard about the raid because of his position, but whether or not it was his idea to inform me, I cannot say.

There are many of us camping out in the Wood. The Wolf Laguz have given us safe heaven. The trees are so big here, I can hardly believe it. I've never seen trees like this anywhere, except in Lady DeLynn's oldest paintings. The trees are thick and dense and Lux soldier must spend several hours now, just to topple a single tree. The Wolf Laguz, fight bravely, but the Lux's Fire Mages are beginning to weigh heavily on their numbers. The Wolf Laguz keep uprooting us, moving us further and further into the Wood, where only the faintest streams of sunlight make it through the canopy. They need to move us because, the Lux are gaining ground everyday.

It's so beautiful here. Even as the Wolf Laguz and those of us who can fight, are carried back from the field, I can tell by the looks on their faces as they look up at the canopy, that they know this is worth fighting for.

The air is so fresh here, and what little light makes it in is treasured, rather than taken for granted. It's so magical, if there is a Divinus Unbra, it lives here. These trees, they are the columns of its temple. The people here they feel not fear, even I am catching some of their fearlessness.

Even as the wounded and dead are carried in, people here have so much hope.

A little boy took his first steps yesterday. He reminded me of you, his smile, anyway, he had your same childish smile.

The Wolf Shammans, have been communicating with the outside somehow, a pond they say, that gives them insight. That is how I knew where to find you. They have been watching the Messiah, using those ponds, and they spotted you. They spotted your Lux Armor, and at first they were concerned. Someone thought to ask me if I knew the soldier, and when they described the soldier, I knew it had to be you. That is why I am able to write to you, and that is why I didn't start by telling you that the Messiah is alive, because I knew that you already knew.

I'm so happy to know that you are alive, and the idea of you reading this in the future brings me nothing but joy.

They are preforming so many raids in the city now, it is almost disgusting.

The Zenith General has set up all sorts of tribunals, where those that survive the raids, are put on trial, and embarrassed, and then sentenced, often to death, without ever seeing any evidence at all. Suspicion is enough to kill you, if you were lucky enough to survive the raids.

That is what makes the Messiah so important. People need her, they need her to be the hope that she was always supposed to be. The Lux soldiers are trying to tell the people in the city that she has terrible powers, that she is evil incarnate. I don't think people are fooled. I can't help but wonder what happens when there is no one left in the capital to kill, when the full force of the Lux army is focused on us, here, in the Wood. There is talk of moving south, where the Wood extends for a few hundred miles into the northern part of Am-dro and Ddyfrha. They talk about separating, and scattering. But I don't think they will.

They are too strong here, community is so important to everyone, the reason they seek to destroy us is the very same thing that unites us together.

You and the Messiah are constantly in my thoughts, and I look to the day when I will see you again.

Yours Always,

Annette
