At 6 feet and 295 lbs, Thorpe is a massively built man. He is always impeccably dressed in classic suits, which are so well tailored as to complement his girth. He clearly enjoys the good things in life including cigars, one of which is in one of his meaty hands. His accent is clearly an upper class British one but there is something odd about it that hints at a lot of other languages.

Retired military, Rutlidge Thorpe is very well traveled. Khartoum, Khyber Pass Peking, The Boer, Russo Japanese War and finally the Great War the Colonel seems to have done it all. In his early years he was a line officer, however in his later days, after his gassing at the Somme he served both as a medical officer as well as a staff officer involved in intelligence issues.

Academics may know him as a founding of the British Psychoanalytical Society. He has studied with both Freud and Jung. Though in the end though he was drawn in by Jung's more hopeful philosophy. Due to his gift for languages as well as his extensive travel he is often consulted by various academics regarding the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
