Dilly

THE BASICS

Human Name: Dilly

True Name: Princess Auraline Evensong

Age: Dilly apears to have just blossomed into adulthood but in reality she is timeless.

Species: Seelie Fae - Summer Court

The Physical

Gender: Female

Hair Color: Chocolate

Eye Color: Honey. Lavender when her Glamour slips.

Distinguishing Marks: Dilly has never had her ears pierced or ventured into a tattoo parlor. Beyond her big honey colored eyes, her thick brows and her Disney smile, there is only one other thing that is unique to her and her alone. Dilly possesses a birthmark on her right shoulder. The soft brown mark is in the abstract shape of a bird in flight.

There is, of course, the hair like silver chain that is tied around her ankle which most definitely would be characterized as a distinguishing mark. This chain, magically forged, ever growing and unbreakable was clasped around her ankle when she was first caught. It was the only thing that her Captor had found that could tie a Fairy to the Mortal realm and stop them from shifting into their true form and flying away.

Dilly has lived with this chain for as long as she had been enslaved. As long as she can remember really. She drags it around behind her with a faint tinkle wherever she goes. Mortals seem to ignore this chain and it passes through their feet without their notice but Dilly is never able to forget it's presence. Even now that she has found her way home, this chain remains. Its end is cut for her captor is dead but the loop around her slender ankle persists like the memory of a nightmare. It trails behind her approximately three feet and she has yet to find a way of ridding herself of its nasty significance.

General Appearance: Dilly is a pretty little thing. She stands at around 5'5' and last time she checked, she weighed in at 120lbs and measured 32-24-33. Her skin is pale, though not from lack of sun. All of her Family is fair skinned. This is something she is sure of but when asked for more details about her Family, Dilly has only faint images and feelings to draw from. The more common reasoning for her lack of pigmentation is that since being forced to take on human form, she is simply genetically predisposed to fair skin and freckling.

Her honey-colored eyes sit beneath thick chocolate-colored brows and her oval-shaped face is curtained by the same chocolate-colored hair. There is a depth in her eyes that people often find mesmerizing. This may be because, at times, it feels as if she is not looking at you but straight through you. She sees what isn't there and it can either bring her joy or sadness. Her facial expression change slowly and subtly but her emotions can always be read through the shape of her lips. A soft upturn, higher on the left than the right means that she is amused. If those pretty bow-shaped lips part to show her ivory teeth then she is genuinely happy. If those same pink lips fall flat however in a straight line, then Dilly is distressed and more than likely, her wide doe eyes are about to fill with tears. This happens rarely so when Dilly does fall into a depression, it is as disturbing a thing as a natural disaster.

Back in Umbrea, when she wore a crown of crystal flowers and sat on a throne by her Father side, Dilly would wear gowns crafted from butterfly silk with jewels plucked from obsidian stone, mined by dwarves would be set int combs hold back her hair. She is a Princess after all but those days are long behind her and the memories come to her as nothing more than faint flashes in her dreams. For many a millennium now, Dilly has had only earthly clothes and few at that to keep her warm. She lives out of a small bag with a selection of things that she is forced to rotate. Her style tends to fall between feminine and classic though she does own a pair of yoga pants that she likes to sleep in and a hoodie that she will often throw on when the weather changes. Dilly has never coped well with the cold but then Summer Fae never do.

Dilly passes as human as well as any, well, human. She's been doing it for so long, it's more than second nature. She knows of course that she isn't mortal. An unbreakable chain around her ankle and an unusually long life in the service of a Witch kind of gave that away. In times of stress or occasionally pure happiness, Dilly has found that she can do things and her appearance has a tendency to change when her Glamour slips. She has seen her lavender colored eyes in the reflection of her mirror and felt the stirring of power inside but it has been a long, long, long time since she has been able to shed her human guise completely and live as she was meant to. What the feels like, what she truly looks like, she honestly can't say anymore.

The Supernatural

Seelie/Unseelie: Seelie - Summer Court

Subspecies: Sidhe

Virtue: Dilly has the unnatural ability to remain positive in nearly every conceivable situation. She is not without her dark days of course but given how cruelly she was stolen away from her home and her family and how long she has been held in captivity and forced into slavery, she still manages to find reasons to smile.

Vice: ?

Prey: Dilly feeds on Hope. It sustains her when her own reserves are running dry.

Gifts: ?

Weaknesses: It could be said that Dilly's greatest weakness is her lack of memories. She knows that she isn't mortal but that in no way even begins to cover just how special she is. She has spent her entire life and a long life at that, searching for her Family and for answers. If only she knew just how long and hard they had been searching for her too. Dilly is The Lost Princess. She just doesn't know it. She cannot explain where she came from or who she is. It makes her vulnerable and weak but more than that it makes her lonely. Everybody needs a place to feel safe.

The Emotional

Personality: Dilly is as chirpy as a bluebird and the picture of positivity and light. She is intelligent, curious and brave. Her eyes look upon the world at times with a childlike wonder but she is not as naive as she once was. It was her naivety and trusting nature that got her caught in the first place. Though she has never given up hope that in the end, the scales of good and evil will fall in favor of the pure of heart, she is a little more cautious around those with a power greater than her own. Given that for so long, she was forced to hold her mortal Glamour, those that outmatch her power are often overwhelming.

Despite her forced enslavement and the kidnapping that took place so many millennia ago, she somehow manages to look upon the world with kindness and curiosity. It could be said that she has simply given up the fight she once fought and has excepted her fate but this could not be further from the truth. Dilly refused to give her captor the pleasure of her suffering and so she made the most of every day and every moment. There is no denying that she enjoyed her new reality as well. The Mortal Realm is a fascinating one. That was until it all went up in smoke.

Until her capture millennia ago, Dilly had never set foot among the Humans but like all Fae of the infinite Realms, she had heard of them. She was curious of course but as heir to the Throne of the Summer Court, she had responsibilities that kept her where she was. Besides, crossing the Realm was not an easy thing to do. Some Higher beings like Demons and Witches could do it but for Fairies, it was a little more challenging. They had little need to leave their homes anyway. Dilly may never have seen the things she'd seen nor met the people she had met were it not for the Sorceress that had captured her like a firefly in a mason jar all those years ago. For the adventures she has had since her kidnapping, Dilly might go so far as thanking the Witch but Empusa is the only person in this Realm or any other that Dilly would emphatically say she hated and for one so pure of spirit, they are heavy words indeed.

Having found her way back from Earth, a realm that she had spent more time in that any other, Dilly spends most of her days curiously confused. She knows that her Mistress is dead. There could be no other possible reason for the chain around her ankle to be severed. This freedom alone should bring her joy but Dilly is still without the answers she seeks. Umbrea is at times as foreign and scary as Earth had been when she had first arrived. She wonders, watches and waits.

Dilly may admit to being scared in this new unknown. There are pieces of Umbrea that feel strangely familiar and comforting but there are others that she cowers away from, rightly so. For as long as she can remember, she has had a purpose. Granted, it was to serve the wicked one who stole her but it gave her days routine and meaning. Without this strange sense of security, Dilly feels more lost than ever. Empusa was wicked and cruel but for so long, she was all the family Dilly had ever known. She's never felt more aline. Still, better smile. At least she survived.

Sexual Orientation: Dilly is looking for her Prince Charming.

The Biographical

History: Dilly comes from a world very different to your own. Dilly is royalty and heir to the Throne of the Summer Court of Umbrea. She is a Fairy or at least she was. Dilly is the Lost Summer Princess and her Family has ruled for as long as Man has been marking the passage of time. As the only Daughter of the Ruling Family, she is next in line to take the Throne. Dilly would gladly accept this monumental responsibility when her time came. There is just one problem however. Dilly was stolen from her home when she was just a child and dark magic has sealed the doorway back. She's trapped or she was. It's only too bad that now that the doorways to Umbrea have been opened once more, an eternity of torture and separation have left Dilly with little memory of who she is and who she is yet meant to be.

For the last several millennias, a Witch named Empusa has owned Dilly. Empusa, like most Witches and dark beings of her standing, could easily move from Realm to Realm. Empusa did not come from Umbrea but when and when she first arrived, she came as an Emissary of peace. Fae, being trusting by nature extended out a hand of friendship. By the time they learned of the trickery Empusa had used to fool them, it was too late. Auraline was already in her clutches. Stolen away in the night, the Princess found herself not only in an entirely new world but tied to a Witch via an unbreakable silver chain.

The King and Queen awoke to find their greatest treasuer missing and their hearts empty with the loss of their only child. Not knowing where it was that the Sorcerer had come from, it was never going to be easy to discover where she went. Whatever tracks Empusa should have left had been wiped clean. She was gone and so was the Princess.

For years where Empusa went, so did Auraline. The Witch used the Fairy as a slave at first. She tended to her home, cooked her meals, rubbed her calloused feet. It wasn't until Auraline came of age that Empusa was able to enact her true plan. There are many uses for lower Magical creatures according to Witches. Empusa wished for one thing however and that was everlasting life and beauty. It was the draining of Auraline's tears that provided her with the key ingredient to see to her vanity. Every evening, Empusa would torture the poor thing until she got the precious glittering beads of liquid she coveted. This went on for far too long.

Back home in Umbrea, the Summer Court never gave up its quest. Knights were sent out to the very reaches of the Realm and those that could, crossed the barriers into unknown lands. All came back empty-handed and with little to report. Auraline had been hidden away. Her glow was shadowed by dark magic and with a spell, her true name was wiped from her memory. With all their might, not even the Summer Court could find her. Still, as the centuries wore on, they never forgot. Every member of the Summer Court knows about the festival of light. Every year on the eve of the Princess' birthday, thousands of enchanted lanterns are released into the night sky. Each one, upon reaching its peak will transform into a glowing bird and soar into the ether. It is the King and Queen's way of honoring their little girl and the birthmark that proves she's royalty.

As all things tend to do however, with time, Dilly's life changed. No longer Auraline, the captured Fairy had been Dilly now for well over 300 years. Empusa had called her other names prior to her adoption of the name Dilly but the little Fairy liked Dilly best. It reminded her of a song. Not that she got much of an opportunity to sing. The world was changing. Humans were spreading out to all corners of the Earth and their presence upon the little blue marble in the sky was beginning to take its toll. Empusa had said it was only a matter of time. How right she was.

Dilly doesn't know the exact cause of the end of the world but she remembers the exodus that brought her to Umbrea. In the chaos and the flames, her captor was killed and Dilly found herself free but without direction or any idea of what to do next. She saw the gates open and knowing that she had never truly belonged in the mortal world, she followed many other lost souls through the doorway and into Umbrea. Something inside her told her she was home but Dilly didn't much know what to make of that feeling. Little looked familiar but then she had been gone for so long. Truth be told, Dilly still feels just as lost as she did on Earth. Still, she finds reasons to smile. How can she not? Wheather she knows it or not, Dilly is now and forever will be, the shining light of the Summer Court of Umbrea.
