THE BASICS

Name: Evelyn Lakeside

Nickname: Evie

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Gender: Female

Age: 28

THE ANIMALISTIC

Species: Chital Deer Shifter

Alpha, Beta, Omega or Other?: Alpha

Dominant or Submissive: Dominant

Pure or Halfling: Pure

Position in Former Pack: In her Former Herd, Evelyn held the rather prestigious position of Grower. From Acorns to Appels, Watercress to Weed, there really wasn't much she couldn't grow and she kept her Herd fed and happy.

Shifter Description: Evelyn is stunningly striking in her Deer form. As a Chital Deer, she possesses the beautiful white spots that set her species apart. Her sight is sharp through large espresso colored eyes and her fur is a rich golden, while her belly, rump, throat ears and tail are snowy white. A black strip runs the length of her spine which accentuates her slender body. She stands around 70cm at the shoulders and weighs in at approximately 30kg. Being far smaller than the Males of her kind, Evelyn can't hold her own against a Wolf, Lion or other such large Predator. Speed and agility, however, can keep her safe if fate is on her side.

THE PYSHICAL

Hair: Evelyn has long gold locks that fall in soft waves past her shoulders. She's a naturalist when it comes to her hair. She's never dyed it and has no current plans to. She has cut it of course and has sported both short choppy cuts and classic angular bobs. Presently Evie's hair is long and loose. She will braid it or pin it back if and when she feels the desire.

Eyes: Evelyn's eyes are green but green alone is such a boring description. Evelyn has the eyes of a wildling. Whether she is smiling or not her eyes are sparkling with flecks of amber and brass. Wide but slim her eyes point beautifully at both corners giving her a lovely, feminine shape.

Description: If her name wasn't clue enough, Evelyn is a hippie. She stands at 5’9 and weighs around 130lbs. She works to keep her figure but she is by no means a Gym Junkie. In fact, she can't honestly recall the last time she stepped into a gym. Living the life she lives is exercise enough. She has a high metabolism but also eats a natural, healthy diet as any good Herbavour would.

A life in the sun and living on the land have given Evelyn an aura and a glow. Her skin, which matches perfectly with her golden hair and bright green eyes has been permanently painted in places. She has several tattoos that make her unique. The first would be the long line of moons that line her spine. Made with white ink, the tattoo displays the phases of the moon. The moon and its movements are as important to Evelyn as the seasons and the tide. Not only is she a naturalist, so she observes all things that make up the tapestry of her world but she has always found herself to be happiest at night.

In her Human form, Evelyn chooses to wear light and natural fabrics. She likes flowing dresses that she can get in and out of easily should she need to shift though she isn't against pants during the colder months. A lot of Evelyn's clothes are hand sewn, scraps of leather or fur from another Shifter's kill have been salvaged and given a purpose beyond rotting. Some of her things are gathered through trade and others have simply been collected over time. Evelyn doesn't own much. In fact, she has spent many a day naked or in her Deer form, where clothes are unnecessary.

THE PERSONAL

Occupation: Evelyn was born with her hands in the earth or at least that's the way it felt. From her first barefoot steps through the veggie patch to her life as an adult, her Family has made a living by growing things and she is no different. Food, flowers and everything in between, Evelyn has the greenest of thumbs and has continued the family tradition by growing what people need and selling it at her little wooden cart in main street or directly from her Home. Though it is not as widely known, Evelyn also grows and sells, selectively, a very fine selection of marijuana.

Personality: Evelyn Lakeside is a free spirit. Always happy, it’s difficult for her to take much of anything seriously. Evelyn is a firm believer in the theory that there is no ordinary in this world. Everybody is unique and spectacular. Some people just require a little closer look than others. She believes that the good outweighs the bad and that nobody has ever been hurt by a little extra kindness.

That being said, people have been hurt by the selfishness and carelessness of others. Evelyn lives her life by the philosophy of peace and love. She doesn't hunt and she doesn't kill, but she will, without a doubt, hurt you should you ever harm her or her family. This willingness to fight and to protect hasn't always been in Evelyn's nature. There was a time when her means of survival was running and hiding. It worked for a long time, up until the point when it didn't. Now Evelyn has learned how to fight and while it is not a skill she displays often, she's damn good at it.

The Earth is important to her and she's heartbroken to see it falling apart before her eyes. She's wise enough, however, to realize that with or without Humanity, the Earth will endure. It has gone through cataphatic events before and recovered, it will do so again. Truly though, she won't be sad to see Humanity fade away. The mass death of Humans is saddening but sadly, not entirely her problem. Evie has a responsibly to look after her own and given what Humans have done to her own, she doesn't exactly welcome them in her territory.

Evelyn is a calm, kind, loving woman who has a sensual love affair with nature. Everything she eats, if she hasn't grown it herself then she has watched it grow in the forest around her. Humans would call her a Hippie but in reality, she is simply being honest with her nature and living her best life as a naturalist. The Earth has so many things to give. From food and shelter to medicine and entertainment.

On that note, it should be said that Evie is a pot smoker and it is nothing she is ashamed of. She has never and will never experiment or dabble in anything stronger. She doesn't care for artificial highs. She doesn't smoke because she is looking for an escape or needs to dull her senses. Her life is amazing and smoking weed makes the bright things shine brighter and the good things feel better. High sex is great sex and food taste better when your head is in the clouds. She's a hippie, so they say. Smoking weed is practically religion.

Evelyn is her own person. She has taken what has been taught to her as a child and adapted it to fit her own life and her own beliefs. Traditions would say that the Herd she has formed or the Partner she has chosen is unnatural and wrong but she doesn't much care for tradition. Many would say that she's an unusual Alpha but Evelyn didn't choose this role, it chose her. She's Dominant because she has to be. While she may not be overly aggressive like many Alpha's, Evelyn's owns a quiet sense of control and confidence that allows her to lead.

She doesn't fit into anybody’s mold or under anybody’s label and she likes it that way. She will giggle at dirty limericks and boast dreadfully when she beats you in a race to the water's edge. Evelyn enjoys breaking stereotypes. This world is fascinating and frightening, beautiful and terrible. Evelyn is as much of an observer to it as she is part of it.

Virtue: Evie possess the Virtue of patience. She can tend to her plants and happily wait years to see them flourish.

Vice: Her Vice, if it had to be said would be stubbornness. Once you have lost Evie's trust, it is near impossible to ever gain it back. She simply won't have it.

Strenghts: Evelyn posses the gifts of a Shifter, which in itself is a strength. She possesses the ability to change her form from that of a Human Woman into a Deer. When in her Deer form, Evie is quick, agile and her hearing and eyesight are markedly improved. She is not a natural Leader. It is a skill she was forced to learn but she has come into the role and wears it well.

Though it may not look it, Evelyn is also a highly skilled fighter. This peace and love Hippie was forced to learn how to defend herself and her Family after witnessing the murder of her little sister, which was an event she watched helplessly and in horror as there was nothing she could do. Evie has spent the last several years training and preparing for battle should it ever arrive on her doorstep. Her weapon of choice is a bow and arrow. The very same weapon that the Humans used to hunt her Sister.

Weaknesses: Evelyn is not physical strong, nor does she possess an intimidating aura. In both Human and Deer form, she is vulnerable to harm. Most nearly everyone she meets could strike her down with a hand or paw but Evelyn is not with her defenses. This does not stop people from underestimating her though. She is without a traditional Pack, which for many years, has been her sole source of protection. Though she has adopted a mentality of leader and dominance, that instinctual Prey fear will never go away.

THE BIOGRAPHICAL

History: Like her name suggests, Evelyn was born by the lakes side on a cool autumn evening. Generation after Generation of Deer Shifters had lived upon the land where she was both convinced and birthed. High in the Mountains of the Shasta Wilderness, their Herd thrived. Far enough from Civilization, they were left to their own devices and they were happy. Beneath the setting Sun, on the banks of the lake, Evie was born and her Parents beamed at her perfection.

Mount Shasta Wilderness, within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, has been home to Evelyn's Herd of Shifters for almost 100 years now. It was from the lake that runs down from the great mountain that Evelyn took her first drink and it is the Lake where she bathed up and until her departure. On its banks is where she played as a child and in the clearing, beneath the protection of the mountain further inland is where she grazed. Her Herd was large in size , numbering at around 50 but they were happy.

Happy seems to sum up Evelyn's childhood. She remembers the days when she would trot proudly after her Father as he foraged for food or sat at his feet as he worked skillfully with hammer and nail to build her a rocking chair. She recalls chasing her sister through the trees as the sun was setting and watching as their shadows stretched for what looked miles, making them feel like giants.

There was little they wanted for. To the world, they were called Hippies as they were solitary, self-sufficient and rarely made use of modern technology. Everything they needed, they had. They farmed their own land, built their own houses and the young were homeschooled. Should they ever need to venture into the rest of civilization, they did so cautiously. You see from the moment she was old enough to understand the term, Evelyn knew that she was Prey. Her Herd, instinctually, were skittish. While most Shifters would live among Humans quite happily, they had neither the desire nor the confidence. Evelyn's Family were scared. Scared of Humans, scared of Predators, scared of change.

Evelyn lived cautiously but she never let the knowledge that she would always be food for something prevent her from living her life and it was life itself that Evelyn was so deeply attracted too. From an early age, she showed a true passion and talent for growing things. While other members of her Herd were frolicking, flirting or fawning about, Evie was working in her greenhouse. There was little that she couldn't grow and she watched the seasons come and go, the passage of time marked by the cycle of her crops and annual blooming of her flowers.

That's the way life was out in the Wilderness. Every now and then, something would happen to throw off their gentle pace of rythum but most of the time, life was slow and easy. Evelyn, along with her Herd ventured into Califonia from time to time but for the most part, everything she could ever need could be found in at home but as the world change, this changed too.

Truly, tucked away in the Shasta Mountains, Evelyn and her Herd were protected from the insanity that erupted when the Humans began to die. Like anyone, they were of course first worried about infection themselves but eventually, the penny dropped and it became clear that they were immune. This knowledge only served to further her Herd's paranoia, however. They were not among the Shifter groups that exposed themselves to Humanity nor did they participate in the Summit.

Perhaps they would have. Evelyn often finds herself thinking this. Maybe things would have been different if her Sister was still around. Wishful thinking won't bring her back however. Nor will it melt away the horrific memories of watching her die. It was an arrow through the heart that took down the precious life of the littlest Lakeside. By the time that California had made its stand and refused the Evacuation order, everybody in the neighboring towns knew about the Shifter's living in the Shasta Mountains. When they came looking for them, demanding their food and their lives... well, neither Deers nor Hippies are accustomed to fighting, even in defense.

Some say that they were lucky to escape the encounter with so little loss. Only Elenore died that day, succumbing to the wounds of an arrow through the heart. Evelyn knows that it could have been worse but it makes her stomach churn and her jaw tighten to hear the word 'lucky' used in the same sentence when talking about her Sister's murder. Elie's death was the spark that lit the match so to speak. Already scared, the Herd knew that they couldn't stay. The Humans wouldn't allow it and they were in no position to fight for what was theirs, for what had been theirs for near 100 years. They would give in and hand over their land to save their lives. In the dead of night they packed up and vanished, leaving their homes empty, their fields barren.

Breaking off from her Herd, her Family, was the hardest thing that Evelyn ever had to do. There are times when she regrets it, times when she wants to take it all back and return to the safety and security of loving arms and ancient forests but it's not possible. She knew there had to be a better way, a better place. It's why she headed to Three Valleys and its how her new, odd little Family was formed. Evelyn no longer sticks to her own kind. Her Chosen Mate is a strong, gorgeous and kindhearted Moose Shifter.

Their Family is not a Pack, a Pride, nor a Herd. She is Alpha over a wonderous little band of misfits and she couldn't be happier. Her goals are still to find a new way, a better way that Shifters might live harmonious among one another and among Humans but she also hopes to one day connect again with her original Herd. If she can find them somewhere safe, they might finally stop running and hiding. Three Valleys could be the key to it all.

THE REST

What Brought You To Three Valleys?: Evelyn disagreed with the consensus that running and hiding was the only way her Herd would ever be safe. She is in search of a new way, a better way.

Love History: Evie has had a few relationships in her past. She's dated a few guys from her Herd, even had a fling or two with Humans, much to some members of her Herd's disapproval. Evie has always believed in free love though. How could she honestly call herself a Hippie and not? There were whispers, not too long before she left, that she may have been the Alpha's Bucks True Mate but the theory was never tested.

Education: Like all her Family and the ones that came before, Evelyn was Homeschooled. Traditional learning was set aside in favor of living life and stories around the campfire. Admittedly, Evelyn can't name all the Presidents of the United States and she won't admit to being an Algebra wiz but she adores books and soaks up knowledge like a sapling.

1 - If your character walked into a bar where the bartender was being robbed at gunpoint what would your Shifter do? Slowly and calmly, she would place herself between the Bartender and the Robber, knowing that she was quicker, more agile and can heal faster but also believing that her life is worth no more than a strangers. She would attempt to talk the Robber down but if things grew hostile, she wouldn't hesitate to take the Robber out.

2 - If your character saw a Shifter cub wandering into a busy street after a ball, what would your Shifter do? Race after them while also calling out to get their attention and hopefully the attention of the driver. There is no way that Evelyn could ever sit by and watch a child get hurt.

3 - Your Shifter is participating in an athletic event and comes in second to another Shifter how do they react? Evelyn wouldn't make a scene. She would congratulate the winner but secretly, she'd been upset with herself. She dislikes losing and were she the one to win, she may adorably/annoyingly boast.

4 - Your Shifter is in the middle of an important negotiation when the person in charge of the meeting suddenly collapses with a heart attack - what would be your Shifter's first reaction? Evelyn would rush to the person's side to assess their condition. She knows basic First Aid and is skilled in botanical and natural medicine but if it was beyond her ability, she would seek help. When it was clear that the person was stable, she would take control of the Negation to make sure it was completed.

5 - Your Shifter has been unjustly arrested for disorderly conduct and is thrown in General Holding.  There are seven large men or women in the cell with you. What does your character do? Evelyn is the type of person who exudes a quiet sense of control. She isn't overtly aggressive so it's unlikely that the other Woman would see her as an immediate threat. If she was to end up in Holding for disorderly conduct though, it's likley she was high, so anything is possible.
