Brief Biography:
Hector King is the only son of Ulysses and Clara King, two of the leaders of Broken Train. While the group had no formal leadership the King's were well-respected and their son Hector was expected to step into a similar position. Unfortunately for all of Broken Train, Hector had no interest in that at any point in his life.
Instead Hector shirked his studies and preferred to use his body to its limit. This isn't to say he's dull or stupid; quite the contrary, because Hector is very sharp and has a fast mind. He just has no ability with leadership and is often an awkward person. For that reason he traveled with the foragers and served as a scout and a guard for their groups. He was close friends with Marigold Hall and the two had been intimate early in their time together, but have since instead become great friends and like siblings.
When the sickness swept through Broken Train, Hector's parents urged him to leave and only return when any threat of sickness was gone. He traveled with Marigold and their group slowly faded until they were only a dozen strong. When she broke her leg Hector agreed to stay with her as a companion and friend, at least until she was settled.
Hector would be of use to Truck Stop for his martial skills, his overall athleticism, and his ability to work wood into anything from functional tools to works of decorative art.
Description:
Hector is built solidly and thickly. His shoulders are broad and heavily muscled, his neck is thick, and while his body has little fine definition it's no mistake that he's functionally very strong. He sports a beard of varying lengths, although the time at Truck Stop gives him more opportunity to keep it shaved or trimmed.
He has big, soft eyes, and a strong jaw with high cheekbones. His nose has clearly been broken a few times but it adds character more than a glaring deformity. Hector's posture is usually erect and proud, although when he's in an athletic event he looks more like a lumbering bear moving with easy confidence and a hint of swagger.
Hector has a few pairs of blue jeans he rotates through and a collection of flannel shirts that are growing threadbare. He wants to have nice things if only because he's sick of people looking at him like he's poor. His voice is deep, but he is reserved and tends to avoid people whenever he can.
When Hector is drinking, though, he becomes a different man, and he blossoms into a charismatic and jovial guy. He has a wandering eye and the sexual appetite of several men, but he's respectful and polite with every woman. In fact many find his respectful and reserved attitude unappealing, but for those that can see the immutable fire in his heart he is an extremely attractive partner.

- Reserved: He gets stuck 'inside of his own head' and this can lead to many socially awkward scenarios despite his good nature

- Good Guy: Despite his general awkwardness and inability to socialize without the aid of alcohol, anybody can tell at first glance that Hector is a good person through and through
First Wave Skills:
- Athlete 8 (3 + 5): Although his main focus is on running long distances and any sort of foot race, Hector is a gifted athlete. If it's a physical act, he is sure to excel
- Woodworking 6 (3 + 3): He displayed an immediate affinity towards wood working and is a true craftsmen. With the right tools (or decent improvised ones) he can craft almost any mundane items including decorative carvings, and has learned to make more advanced items like chairs and can repair carpentry
- Moonshining 5 (3 + 2): Hector's uncle taught him how to make moonshine and wine, and it's something of an artform for Hector. His 'shine is the best many have tasted, if only because it doesn't make them go blind
Second Wave Skills:
- Music 2: Hector is not musically inclined, but his upbringing in Broken Train means he learned it all the same. He has a passable singing voice and can keep a good rhythm using basic percussion instruments like a drum or rhythm sticks
- Masseuse 3: A skill that has won Hector many accolades, he is skilled at massaging tense or tight muscles. He isn't a pro, but in a world of constant exertion his skills at finding and eliminating muscular knots has made him popular (and won him his share of intimate encounters)
- Firearms 2: Broken Train had once carried a shipment of firearms when the world was running and while many of them were destroyed, enough survived in working order to provide the settlement plenty of firearms to work with. Hector does not like firearms but can use them proficiently
- Dancing 1: Despite his athletic leanings Hector has little coordination for dancing. Still, his natural strength, agility, and body awareness means he can hold his own on the dance floor
Inventory: A backpack with 650 caps sewn into the lining (Hector never tells people he has the caps, or where they came from), an obvious pocket with about 22 caps in it, two bottles of moonshine, a sharp and sturdy knife, a short-handled spade (he carries this over his shoulder and it serves as a weapon as much as a tool), half an ounce of magic mushrooms he's saving for the right trade, a map of the former western United States, basic wood working tools
Sexual Content: Very High (Hector lives to fuck, even if his reserved nature doesn't make that immediately apparent)
Parent: He secretly hopes to be a father one day but isn't in a rush to get there. He's also happy (and eager) to serve in the role of surrogate father.
