Athale is a 36 years old dark-haired female. She was born as a daughter of a blacksmith from a town near the kingdom's border.

When she was 19, she joined her home town's town guard. She served as a guard for the next five years, becoming one of the officers there. At the age of 23, when the town was attacked by the invaders from outside the kingdom, she distinguished herself when fighting the invaders off. Eventually, the town's siege was broken by the arrival of a contingent of the personal army of the kingdom's ruler. Athale's brave deeds were brought to the attention of the contingent's commander and, eventually, she was recruited into the king's army.

For the next six years, Athale has served in the king's army, travelling the kingdom and fighting in various small trouble spots. In this time, she has become an junior officer there and was considered a candidate for a command position. But, at the age of 29, during one of her missions, she encountered a powerful sorcerer using demon magic. This dark encounter convinced her that the witches were, in fact, the biggest threat the kingdom was facing - and so, she decided to become a witchhunter.
