Najewa

Janice Redfoot and her brother John were born on the Grey Mountain Indian Reservation in northern Arizona, amid the Granite Hills. Their Grandfather, Nervous Elk, had seen signs that both children would carry the shamanistic powers of their bloodline. Their parents died when they were only 4 and 3 respectively, killed by gunrunners working for a nascent criminal organization. Both children were raised by the tribe, and the shaman, in the traditional ways of the Indian people. While John seemed better suited to Earth and Animal magics, he fell in with a bad crowd. He disappeared from the reservation at the age of 17, although the occasional rumor tells of him leading a branch of a criminal group that uses both magic and technology for its ends. However, Janice excelled in the physical arts. She grew strong and swift, learning how to hunt and fish, how to track, how to survive in the wild, and how to avoid getting lost. On her 18th birthday, Nervous Elk had her go on a Spirit Quest. Under the influence of strange herbs, her Spirit was contacted by the spirits of her ancestors, charging her with the protection of all mankind, both red man and white skin together. To aid her in this charge, the ancestors would infuse her being with the power to influence events. At the end of her Vision, she was granted her first experience with the powers of her ancestors. Using her abilities, she was able to track down some lost travellers who had crash landed in a ravine, and rescued them. As the pwers faded, Janice realized that her lack of discipline caused the energies to bleed out of her too quickly. Under further instruction by her grandfather, she learned how to summon and shape the energies of her ancestors. She learned the discipline of Aikido from an old colleague of Nervous Elk known simply as The Master. Recently, she learned how to expend the summoned energies to heal injuries, although it costs her greatly,
both exhausting her and greatly lessening her store of spiritual energy. Now she strives to fulfill her destiny as 'Najewa' (Navajo for 'Spirit Warrior').
Janice stands 5',7" tall, weighing about 149 lbs. She has blue-black hair and dark brown eyes. Her costume is composed of reinforced leathers reminiscent of Navajo Warrior garb.
