Appearance: Matthew is pretty average in height but is very fit and fairly built, standing at a little over 5'11" but not quite 6' and weighing around 200 lbs. Usually found with a stern look on his face, he is not one for light jokes on the job. Personality: Years on the job have given Matthew a more pessimistic look on life, tending to see or expect the worst in people. As a cop, he thinks things through rationally and logically, tending to be more serious now then he was in his younger years. Strangely enough, he hates being alone but rarely really opens up and talks with people; tending to surround himself with people in a social setting but usually keeping to himself. He's used to putting himself in dangerous situations but he doesn't consider it courageous anymore, it's just another part of the job to him. He usually follows his gut and is quite comfortable with who he is, only second guessing himself if something goes wrong. BACKGROUND
History: Matthew was born and raised in America, specifically the central California area. His parents were higher middle class, both working in the medical field and wanting their son to follow in their footsteps, but ever since high school Matthew knew he wanted to be a cop and worked hard towards that goal. Through his parents' urging, he went to college, majoring in criminal justice. After graduation, he went straight to the force. Only a couple of years on the force, a death in the family brought him to Wales. His mother's sister had died in a car accident and his uncle was left paralyzed. He stayed to take care of him but eventually the man passed, the family claiming he died of a broken heart. He decided to stay in Wales working as a homicide detective, eventually being transferred to Shadowhaven to help with the strange disappearances and sightings. He's lived in the small town for a few months now, rarely keeping in touch with his parents ever since their retirement and their decision to travel the world.
