No More Heroes

In a world where magic is a thing of myth and legend, where the gods are distant and remote and the deep wilderness is held back by the inscrutable druids, you are nobody—merely one more peasant in a backwoods village so small and insignificant that it does not even have a name. After all, naming a place implies that there is somewhere else close enough by that there is some need to separate them.

Being nobody has its benefits: The only claims on your time are the mundane details of a rustic life, and the only people who know your name are friends, family, and neighbors. Your greatest ambition in life is likely to die of old age, and your worst conflict, that fellow at the tavern who insists on being a rowdy drunk.

There are disadvantages, as well, though—you lead a closeted and superstitious life with little knowledge of the outside world, and when trouble comes calling, you have no one to protect you from the troubles brewing beyond the minute borders of your humble domain.

Because, little did you know—nor did your elders or your stories prepare you to discover—that there are no more heroes.

This world uses both an original setting and a reactive storytelling technique in which players assist in creating and populating the game environment.
