Description: Meriwether Lewis Smythe- Meriwether Lewis Smythe; an English gentleman in his late twenties of average height & thin, perchance even considered gaunt by some standards. As Gentleman Hired Gun, he is always true to his word. Though not as rough & tumble as others of his ilk, he gets by. His black hair is cropped short, which fits perfectly beneath the black bowler hat he wears. His rather full side burns runs down each cheek to nearly his sharp chin & his neatly trimmed mustache is always well groomed (quite Victorian!).

Meriwether's pale blue eyes twinkle, equally capable of showing mirth or anger. Wearing a dark frock coat, waistcoat, elegant black leather gloves, black English cavalry boots, & gold pocket watch; he strides forth with the ease of one very sure of himself... even though he looks as though he doesn't fit in somehow. One would think him just another gent from London's East End if not for the twin Navy Colts hanging lazily from his from hips, arranged for a cross draw, their pearl handles are smooth & well worn from frequent use...

Personality: Meri is a gentleman in every sense of the word but also has a very keen sense of humor. He has been known to be both curious about his new surroundings in the old west and a bit mischievous as well. He can not tolerate bullies being bullied in his young life and having an overbearing father the Major. His true father figure was one Nevada Smith, who thought the young Englishman gun-play. Some think him sickly and at times has been know to exhibit a dry cough.

History/Background:
Son of English Gentry, Meriwether was educated in a boy's boarding school as a lad. He had a brief stint studying at Oxford before wanderlust took over. He traveled over seas, first in Burma then to Hong Kong as member of British East India Trading Company. From there he traveled to San Francisco where he met & an aging gunfighter. His name was Nevada Smith.

This gunman owned a set of twin Navy Colts, with which he was quite proficient. Liking the Englishman, Smith took him under his wing so to speak. Meriwether already knew how to shoot, his father was a military man & all English Gentry could ride, yet he was altogether unfamiliar with the style of gun play that was known throughout the American West. Meriwether had the grace & dexterity of a gunman & it wasn't long before he was almost as fast Smith. The Englishman enjoyed the feel of the guns on his hips as well as in his hands.

Smith died not long after from consumption but not before leaving his guns to the Englishman. In that short time Nevada Smith had been more like a father than his own, the Major, so Meriwether took Nevada's last name- Smith or as it was spelled back home Smythe. That was how he began his career as a gunman/ hired gun.
