Ash is tall and heavily muscled, though not excessively bulky. His long blond hair and beard are decorated with numerous small braids and interwoven tokens, such as small feathers, and never seem to dirty or go astray. Much of his face and torso are covered with painful-looking, spiral-patterned blue tattoos.

Contrary to such a seemingly manicured appearance, Ash wears the simplest clothing he can, typically leather or canvas breeches and a loose tunic (if he wears a shirt at all). He walks barefoot everywhere, wears no jewelry, and has a warm laugh, an intriguing smile, and a pleasant voice to listen to. Most of the time, he carries a stout staff of living wood, its end green with foliage.
