DM Hedgeknight

Old timer gamer guy - goes by the name "Gary" when not in DM mode. Cut his teeth on Basic D&D back in '82 in junior college. Remembers well rolling up his first character - Elsharon the Brave - an Elf Fighter/Magic-User who went on to have many wonderful adventures.
Move up to playing Expert D&D and then made the jump to Advanced D&D not long after. When 2nd edition came along, he tried his hand at DMing and fell in love with the game all over again. Been to a few cons, met a ton of wonderful fellow gamer folk, and played in some fun games; even joined the RPGA and hobnobbed with the "big names" of the gaming community.
Moved to the beach in '98 and first tried an email game and became instantly hooked with pbp gaming - been doing it ever since. At the behest of his players, tried 3rd edition, liked it, and then 3.5 came along and again, he dove in with both feet and ran some very fun games through the years. Pathfinder is also a lot of fun, but it is 1E that keeps calling to him and he has answered that call and is currently setting up what he hopes will be a fantastic 1E adventure on this fine website.

Memorable gaming moments:
> Meeting and gaming with Gary Gygax at the Atlanta Fantasy Fair (before it was renamed Dragon Con) in 1984 (I think it was; maybe '85) - truly a magical experience; what a great guy!
> Meeting a fellow gamer and DM in college who introduced me to a whole new level of play as he single-handedly ran a group of 20+ players in a very detailed city and campaign - he is the DM I aspire to be.
> Concluding a 6-year email campaign with some old and new friends in one of the best games I've ever run. What an experience!
> Meeting a good friend and fellow gamer for the first time at Gen Con 2009. When I was looking for players to my email campaign, I posted on a now defunct website and this guy - Malcolm - was one of the players who responded. Has been gaming with me online for almost 10 years and I had never met him personally until Gen Con 2009 - we roomed together, talked for ours, shared more than a few beers - had a wonderful time!
