12:06, 27th April 2024 (GMT+0)

B'yan

Name: B'yan
Age: 15 turns
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Hetero
Occupation/Rank: Weryling. B’yan is serving as a messenger and sentry for the Weyr until Sernoth fully matures and he comes of age (16 turns).
Location: Sea Cliff Weyr

Personality
Boyan is a gregarious person. He greatly prefers company to being alone and is much more productive in a team environment. His mind is very orderly and he shows a great attention to detail. As a fosterling, he was quick to obey and eager to help. Until his growth spurt Boyan’s small size forced him to learn to work smarter not harder. He knows the words to all the sea shanties of Seascape Hold and uses them to make the work of the fosterlings more efficient. Since this leads to more play time the other fosterlings are quick to follow Boyan’s lead. His attention to detail makes him great for organizing games for his peers as well.

Description

Brief History
Boyan was born a sea holder. His father was lost at sea when he was little. It has been so long ago now that Boyan just vaguely remembers him. He has been raised among the other fosterlings and has enjoyed the companionship and freedom that came with it. He is accustomed to the life of a fisherman and has the talents that came with it.

A team of Dragon Riders from Sea Cliff Weyr on search found Boyan. There was a unanimous consensus that Boyan would make a great candidate. However, he was just thirteen turns at the time and far too young to stand on the sands. Despite his age Boyan was taken to the Weyr to live as a fosterling. It was decided that if they introduced him to Weyr life now it would ease his transition to the status of a dragonrider. Just the exposure to dragons would ensure that he would not stand fearfully on the sands and get mauled by a confused fledgling.

Once he arrived, it didn’t take long for Boyan to establish himself as an obedient and hard worker. It was S’gian that had noticed the boy moving stones around on a table in the dining hall. When asked what he was doing Boyan explained the flight formations using the stones for dragons and his uneaten tubers for thread. Each maneuver was executed perfectly and the boy was able to verbally communicate their use. The Weyr Leaders, Pavielle and S’gian, decided to let the boy stand on the sands as early as they could. With a turn and a half to two turns for a dragon to reach full maturity, Boyan was at his first hatching at the age of fourteen turns.

Only the team that found Boyan while on search thought the boy would impress and that it would most likely be a brown or bronze dragon. It had disgruntled the older candidates because Boyan might impress a dragon before he was even of age. Jaded by his age the majority of the Weyr took the opinion that Boyan would not impress. In spite of the animosity and jealousy directed towards him Boyan impressed the bronze dragon, Sernoth. Those who wagered on Boyan that day hauled in the markers.

It is now a little more than a turn later, B’yan is serving as a messenger and sentry for Sea Cliff Weyr. Sernoth will reach full maturity about the same time B’yan comes of age (sixteen turns). At that time they will join a flight to fight thread with the rest of the Weyr.

His early years in the sea hold had always enforced a team perspective. Sorting the haul, mending nets and especially sailing were performed as a highly skilled unit. The ability to understand and take orders was the difference between life and death for those who worked at sea. Losing his father, had drilled the importance of teamwork into his mind. If he were to one day fly with a dragon and fight thread, his life and the life of his wingmates would hinge on their ability to work as one cohesive unit.

If Dragonrider, please make out the following:

Age When Impressed: 14 turns
Dragon Age: A little more than a turn. He has only been flying a few weeks.
Dragon Description: Bronze
Dragon Personality: Sernoth is a loyal jovial dragon. The bronze sees the humor in life that B’yan often misses. While B’yan is too serious Sernoth sees the joy in life. The dragon makes B’yan stop to appreciate sunsets and wading along the beach. Much to everyone’s amusement it is not uncommon for Sernoth to knock B’yan down in the bathes or shake the water from his hide soaking his rider. He loves the ocean and frequently talks B’yan into going for a swim or just dives in on a whim.
