13:13, 27th April 2024 (GMT+0)

Robert 'Bobby' Michael Kastelein

Bobby was born in 1948 in Hackensack, New Jersey to Bert and Lucille Kastelein. He volunteered to join the US Marines to avoid jail time in 1966 for a minor theft charge. He was trained as a Marine Aviation mechanic and served 2 tours at the air base in Da Nang.

After returning home he got married and worked in a garage, then opened his own. His garage went broke in 1985, he decided to take a contract to work on the Alaskan oilfield. Bobby was an experienced hunter and relished the chance to get out in the wilderness, even if it meant a temporary separation from his family. A Project recruiter noted his potential when he was employed on a vehicle service contract for Morrow Petroleum and he was recruited and trained in 1987, being deployed on a Regional field team (RECON KR-44) in 1988.

Bobby is a Lutheran (lapsed). His parents and family mostly live in New Jersey. He has a wife (Ann) and three children (Lucy, Rosie and Jennifer) who are now all in a long-term Project survival-storage facility.
