Doctor Jonas Oslow was a renowned scientist singularly obsessed with vibration.  He's considered one of the world's experts in frequency, oscillation, and resonance.  His graduate research project unlocked the human potential to control vibration in himself.

He also invented the Harmonic Resonance Transducer (aka HART), a unique 'tuning pitchfork' which was a powerful scientific tool (and could be a powerful weapon).  Dr. Oslow generally eschews single syllable words, and his most common phrases are analytical, like: "Curious.  Rather unusual phenomena."
