Lola Peterson

Prologue - The Setting of the Show

Real Name: Lola Peterson
Stage Name: The Cheshire Cat - unsure about that
Age: Looks 21
Species: Gifted Human
Position at the Circus: Tightrope/Contortionist and Aerial Silk Performer
FaceClaim: Chloe Moretz

Act 1 - The Face on the Outside

Height: 5’5”
Weight: 133lbs

Physical Description: Lola is slender but not skinny, her acts require a combination of strength, balance, and flexibility which are provided by the muscles that have been toned and stretched daily for years. She usually wears her long blonde hair up in a ponytail or bun, only letting it down on occasion as it usually gets into her face otherwise. Her eyes are usually accented by natural makeup when not performing and vibrant hues when working.

Distinguishing Features: Lola has a small numeric tattoo "0034" on the back of her neck as well as small pits in her skin across her body from multiple minor surgeries and injections. None of these are usually visible as long as she's clothed or if her hair is down.

Act 2 - The Freak Within

Personality: Despite her upbringing, Lola is a happy and peppy young woman. While she wasn't very street smart after her release, the Bancroft Circus helped her grow in that regard, it also helped her learn not to trust everyone so blindly. Despite that, she still likes talking to people and building relationships. She adores performing and the reactions she gets from people and still harbors a need for approval/rewards/praise held over from her days at the "orphanage".

Species Description: Lola grew up thinking she was a normal girl who was a bit more flexible and could simply smell and see better than others.

Noteworthy Qualities: Lola can see and hear better than most people, her eyesight might even be considered better in the dark. She is extremely flexible and if she falls she always seems to land on her feet.

Act 3 - The Big Finale

Character History:  Lola had grown up in what she thought was an orphanage for sick children, getting shots daily and being put through various tests and treatments as the years progressed. Some of them were painful, some of them were fun, all of it was what she thought to be "normal". In reality, she had been born and brought into a government program that was attempting to add animal traits to human patients.

It took her awhile, but around the time she turned ten she became wise that something wasn't quite right. Despite that, she continued to perform and participate in order to not draw attention to herself and incur the punishments for misbehaving. She'd come up with a plan to escape, run away and join a circus or something equally transient, but before she could escape, she was released and told she was free to go, that she was grown up and it was time to her to go out on her own. She was handed money for a bus ticket, directions on where to find the station, and a bag holding her few belongings.

She'd gotten lucky enough that on her way to the bus station in town, she came across a traveling circus that was starting to set up on the outskirts. At first, she wasn't sure what she could do for the show, having never been outside of the "orphanage" grounds. However, under the guidance of Harold Bancroft and Lucille McNamara she was given the opportunity to build an act and perform.

It had taken her a bit to find her niche, trying multiple things but always being drawn to the heights of the trapeze, high wires, and aerials. They let her feel lighter than air while giving her a thrill of flying. She practically fell into contortion, having been trained since youth to be flexible and bend in ways that didn't seem natural. That was her second love, the stretching of her body and muscles was equal parts painful, and exhilarating, enjoying the challenge of attempting to shoot a bow and arrow with her feet while doing a handstand or freaking out a group of kids with bending over backward and walking towards them.

Eventually, she felt stuck in a rut, having learned and performed with the Bancroft circus for about 3 years, she resigned and set out for another place where she could feel free to grow her act. She also started feeling as though things weren't what they seemed at the Bancroft establishment, coincidences falling into place, the place drawing in more profit than the audience. She needed to get out, find a place she knew was her own rather than a place she was starting to suspect was less "freedom" and more a "next step in training".

Your Act: Lola loves to perform, being in the air, the challenge of bending herself in a new and fascinating way, the reactions of the audience, be it terror, surprise, or excitement.

As a tightrope walker, she combines her skills, both walking while balancing objects and "walking" across on her hands while balancing objects on her feet. She also enjoys scaring the audience with faked falls, where it will look as though she's fallen off the wire, just to have her pivot and swing at the last minute, landing back on the wire. Whenever she "falls" she always lands on her feet.

As a contortionist she performs both in the House of Oddities, bending and twisting herself into bizarre shapes and occasionally with some of the other trick performers in the main act, firing arrows at targets from a handstand position.

When needed, she also joins the aerial silks performers, usually for a large group sequence. She also uses the silks to keep her strength and flexibility up.

References: Lola has no references if asked she'd explain that while she worked for a show in the past, she was running from it and didn't want them contacted or made aware where she'd gone.
