General background:

Israel Elijah Levy was born 23 years ago in Tel Aviv, Israel.  His parents, Dr. Isaac and Ester Levy, raised him and his two siblings (Daniel - 2 years older, and Ruth - 7 years younger) as strict Orthodox Jews.  As is tradition, Israel was Bar Mitzvahed at 13, fully accepting the responsibility of Torah.


Mossad Recruitment:

He was recruited directly out of high school into Mossad, who also paid for his college education. Mossad recruitment techniques are...unique. Israel was offered a large some of money to use his father's influence to steal information from a ranking member of the Knesset.  Israel patently refused.  He was asked again, several times, and much more forcefully - even having his life threatened.  He still refused.  He was taken to an abandoned office building where he was informed that he had passed the test of loyalty, and was asked to join the Mossad.

Casework:

All of his casework has been in the Near East.  Israel has traveled extensively through Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates, but has never traveled outside the Arabic world.  Most of his work related to counter-terrorism.

Education:

Israel has received a bachelor's degree in History from Tel Aviv University, and was two semester's into a Master's Degree, before INTERPOL recruited him.

Faith/Temple:

Israel considers himself Masorti (Conservative), rather than Orthodox, but that does not mean he does not have a strong faith.  He sees it as a guiding factor in his life - just not a controlling factor, like his parents.

Magic:

Israel fist discovered his aptitude for magic as a teenager - accidentally throwing his friend Eli across the room.  Due to his family's strict views, Israel kept his magic secret. Only Eli knew he had any abilities (though his sister, Ruth, suspects), and often prodded Israel to learn more about them.  After he joined the Mossad, Israel spent some time online in varying forums learning what he could on his own.
