Giles

Slightly shorter than medium height with close cropped brown hair and bright blue eyes that have a soft intensity and is always  quick to break into a smile.
Giles is a scholar/scribe based in the Abbey of Saint Marcus in Albion he has been raised under the tutelage of Brother Aelfric (described in “Friends and Foes”). He also serves as the Abbey's messenger and has travelled extensively throughout Ellesland conducting the Abbey's business along with small missions for Aelfric securing curios and texts for study. He is very familiar with the dangers of the road though is the first to admit "I'm a scholar not a fighter!" - so will always seek to use his wits to avoid confrontations and any nastiness- to that end he always tries to attach himself to larger groups for mutual safety. When it comes to it though he can hold his own with bow and staff.

He is something of an expert on Old Selentium and has been researching of late (with Aelfric) the stories surrounding Drajan and the "lost legions" that travelled into Glissom and did not return. There are many theories including desertion, shacking up with locals and some darker possibilities. To that end he has been in the town of Glissom for the last week sifting through any material he can find and talking with wise men and curio collectors. He would jump at the chance to join a party heading north.

He has been cooped up in the Abbey for some time so he is particularly excited to be "out in the world" again and will express an almost child-like enthusiasm in his surroundings at times. He is deeply curious and may come across as a bit of a pest in his questioning of other characters and their travels/experiences - he is aware of this issue though so will meet it with a laugh and nod if he has overdone it. In combat he will always survey the setting and seek any natural advantage he can find. He is aware of his inadequacies as a fighter so will seek to make it up to the party by fetching water, cooking etc - he will forsake much of his share of gold also as "knowledge is its own reward" particularly if he can solve the Drajan mystery....
