Gatiya is clearly from the Arabic penisula, both by the way she dresses and the colour of her skin. She is the oldest child of  Sayyid Tariq bin Taimur Al Said the most likely heir of the country of Oman. As a female she is not expected to inherit: she has three legitimate half-brothers and a much larger number of illegitimate half brothers: most  the children of concubines. Her own personal title is 'Bedum' for formal affairs, but most of the people that work for her seem to call her 'Ashi', which translates to Princess
