Description
Rum is short and tanned, the kind of tan we only get when working outside on the air for long hours and long days. He is of angular features, and very short hair that is cropped to almost a stubble which seems to go on along the straight lines of his face.

His eyes are light grey with a piercing quality to them amplified by  a small scar that runs down from his left eye in a ragged way, clearly done by a fall or some gnarled branch of a tree.

His clothing is really plain and old, even a bit unkept with patches and an eventual hole in the shirt and pants, clearly the guy cannot afford more or just doesn't care. One good thing can be said about his clothing though it seems really comfortable and practical, in an undyed, old worn cotton color, it looks like he belongs to it.

Equipment Seen
Normally carries a long quarterstaff, a thick straight and polished thing, about an inch or more thick, on some kind of light wood. In his belt, hangs a very long knife or machete, almost a sword, that sees much more use skinning animals that fighting.

On the other side of the belt hangs a trap, that has seen quite a lot of use.

Background
Ron is his original name, and some people at the village still remember it... how it came to be is a rather sad story though.
At a young age, Ron's mother died, until that point in time, Rum and his sister Gwen, went to school regularly and mixed with other children, but at her mom's death, Rums father didn't seem to be able to face the loss, and started frequenting the tavern more and more and abandoning his children. He passed so much time at the tavern that Ron had to go pick him up and take him home. Drunk as his father was, he called him Rum rather than Ron, and as the other kids heard it stuck to the point everyone called him that. Rum at any rate, did not seem to mind, and if he did, he never said a thing.

Eventually Rum had quit school, to start taking care of her sister. Gwen managed to finish her studies while he worked, and she is now a 16 year old beauty, with a sweet character that administers her father's house with the little earnings and food that Rum manages to put in the table.

Social Life / Personality & Rumours
Rum has been missing from any social life for the past years... yes, he can be seen now and then and he does not really avoid people. He is simply busy, really busy trying to keep his father off trouble, while at the same time keeping his family table full.

He is known to be available for almost any menial task for a few coins. But most of the time, when there is no one that needs to hire him, he spends his time in the forest and near fields trying hunt or trap small game, fish or recollect bays and fruits when the season comes.

He is a nice guy, quiet and calm, a bit brusque and blunt with his words which puts most kids off, for he is really mature for his age and just does not have the time for games.  So, the guy does not have many friends, but he doesnt have any enemies either.

Some time back, some big kids went to him trying to have a laugh at him while he worked cleaning up some manure from someone else's farm and started throwing bits of manure at him, as he didn't respond to this, they picked the game up by a notch and soon, they were trying to make him eat manure. Most say it was weird one moment they were trying to kick him, the next moment they were on the floor eating the shit they had tried to make him eat. How and when had he learned to fight that way ?.
Rum didn't make much of it, after that, he asked them to leave so that he could finish his work calmly and they left.
