Miles Mercer is a world-class yacht racer who enjoyed fame and fortune a little too much, and who was picked up aboard his yacht heading for the IOW. He has proven ill-suited to weapons and unwilling to bear arms, but is only too happy to remain in the 5-star luxury of the fort and act as resident helmsman should a sea-borne evacuation ever prove necessary. In the meantime, he helps out with maintenance and repair of boats to earn his keep. He likes to preen himself in the mirror...
