Richard Adams is a career soldier serving in the Royal Engineers and was assigned to a role in the south of England.

As a Lieutenant in charge of a platoon of engineers who had been reduced to half strength in a zombie attack, he took refuge in the village of Calshot, where he found some thirty farmers who wanted to stay put on their farms. He began to construct defences to protect the farmers and it was there that he came into contact with the Solent Community.

When Captain John Hunter was killed in action, Adams, whose position and disposition had been reported to the IOW, was appointed to replace Hunter as Military Liaison Officer for the Solent Community, and he was promoted to Captain.

His engineers are now engaged in building works to consolidate the defence of the Calshot area.
