History:  A third class, only daughter of a wealthy mill owner whose fortune comes entirely from the industry.  Has had an education to her mother's horror and her father's delight.  Has enough money to be prey to fortune hunters, but not so much as to make her independent.  Her parents are utterly delighted with their apparent rise in station.
