Tall, dark, and slender, with deepset dark eyes, Sir Richard was
accounted a handsome man, though his reputedly wild
life has begun to leave traces on his face. His father Sir
Ralph was a respected member of the Ascendancy
(the Anglo-Irish elite) who married an English heiress,
so  Richard inherited wide lands in both Ireland and
England. His parents died when he was almost of
age, and since he came into his inheritance he has been
spending freely in high wagers on cards and horses
and it is said on other vices. He is still well received in Society
despite the rumors.
