 History: Born in Camden Town in 1789; attended Westminster School; apprenticed as a solicitor to Attorney George A. Wilkes, Esq., 1810; works at Wilkes, Hatherton, Squires, and Kellerman, a law firm located near St Mary le Strand in the Temple district of London.

Family: James Davies (Father), 52 and in poor health - a private in the 9th Regiment of Foot, James Davies was part of the company which fired upon the mobs during the Gordon Riots; he left the service soon after from rock to the head and trauma incurred during the riots.  Proficient with the harpsichord and pianoforte, he became a music instructor in London, until his health (including severe arthritis) rendered him unable to take on students.

Martha Davies nee Smith, 49 (deceased), daughter of a tea shop owner; a very genteel, neat, and proper lady, despite her humble upbringing; died of pneumonia in 1809.

Cecilia 'Ceelie' Stanhope nee Davies, (26), elder sister of Edward, married a Engineer Corps Lieutenant, and now a land surveyor, from Shropshire, Arthur Stanhope, in 1808; they have 3 children, Tess (4), Brian (2), and Michael (6 months).  While Ceelie and Edward write often, they have not seen each other in 3 years.
