The populace is divided into three groups, called 'Mantles'. Each group have specific duties, or Callings, and are as following:

Mantle of the Hand - These are the commoners. They are Called to 'Obedience, Toil & Trust'. They make up the bulk of the population, and are mostly peasants and craftsmen, although merchants and scholars are also of this Mantle. They are forbidden from owning or handling weapons other than when they are serving in the army. They may handle, but not own or ride, horses. They cannot own land.

Mantle of the Hoof - These are the nobles. They are Called to 'Horses, Justice, Protection & Gratitude', and have all the power in the Empire. They are tasked with the empire's protection, upholding it's laws and ruling over the commoners. They own all the lands and tend to have long, complicated titles. Etiquette is extremely important, and the nobles are expected to end all interactions with the commoners by thanking the commoner for their service. Equestrian skills are also extremely important, and a large portion of any noble families' status is derived from the size and quality of it's stables.
Nobility is hereditary, and there are a number of distinguished families within the Empire. Most notable is the Lyshart family, who are the nations' founders and highest rulers. Other notable noble families include; Domweld, Vegel, Haupterbrand, Eichensond.

Mantel of the Staff - Is the last and smallest by far group. These are the priests, and their only real role is to serve as teachers in the nations' schools, and to supervise that the other two groups adhere to their Callings. The church report directly to the Kaiser, and is one of the only ways the nobles are held in check.
