Cyrus Solomon Jericho

Deputy U.S. Marshal Cyrus Solomon Jericho is a ruggedly handsome 34 year old man with a serious demeanor that speaks of maturity beyond his years gained through harsh adversity.  He stands tall at 6 ft. 2 in. with a slim, wiry build, weighing a lean 185 lbs.  He has dark blond hair worn in a military style haircut and a neatly trimmed beard with a faint mustache.  He has deep crystal blue eyes that generate an icy cool piercing stare.  There is a faint scar that runs down his cheek on the left side of his face caused by a close brush with a confederate cavalry saber, this scar is partially hidden by his beard.  He wears a dark bandana around his neck to cover up a wound on the right side of his neck caused by a bullet graze (just missing the vital artery).

Cyrus tends to wear brown and black colored clothing (usually a mix of cavalry style shirts and jeans) with knee high cavalry style leather riding boots and a calf length tan colored duster as well as a brown brimmed Stetson hat.  He proudly wears his Deputy U.S. Marshal badge, polished to a high shine as if brand new (which it actually is).  He wears a Smith & Wesson Model 3 revolver in a hip holster on his right hip and a Colt Single Action Army revolver in a cross-draw holster.  He rides a Quarter Horse by the name of "Black Jack" (in reference to the 1856 Battle of Black Jack in Kansas).  He has a Winchester Model 1873 carbine holstered in a leather rifle scabbard attached to Black Jack's saddle.

Cyrus was born just outside Ft. Leavenworth, KS and attended West Point (graduating a year early in June 1861 due to the start of the Civil War).  Cyrus's initial posting after West Point was to the 4th U.S. Cavalry Regiment, E Company, which (along with A Company) was seconded to the Army of the Potomac on the Eastern Theater.  Cyrus saw action with E Company in the Bull Run, Peninsula, Antietam, and Fredericksburg campaigns.  Cyrus was seriously wounded during the battle of Fredericksburg and had to convalesce in Washington D.C. for roughly a month afterwards.  Once Cyrus had recovered from his wounds, he was re-assigned in early 1863 as a Regular Army veteran to serve as an officer in the 7th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry Regiment ("Jennison's Jayhawkers") where he primarily saw action in the Kansas-Missouri Western Theater.

At the end of the Civil War, Cyrus was transfered to serve as an officer in the 10th U.S. Cavalry Regiment (the "Buffalo Soldiers") from 1866 to 1870 during the Indian Wars.  In early 1871, he transferred back to his former unit, the 4th U.S. Cavalry Regiment, stationed in Texas where he fought in the 1872 Battle of the North Fork of the Red River and fought in the 1874 Red River War, including the Battle of Palo Duro Canyon.  A little over a month ago, Major Cyrus S. Jericho mustered out of the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge and became a Deputy U.S. Marshal assigned to Texas.
