Hraban the raven is a loyal companion to Whisper White and, if not perched on her handbag, is always nearby. She is nearly 2' long with a wingspan of at least twice that and a long, strongly graduated, wedge-shaped tail. Hraban has midnight black feathers with the occasional sheen of a dark indigo. The raven appears to be unnaturally intelligent but what can be most unsettling about Hraban is the reddish tint (some might even say glow) than can occassionally be see in the bird's eyes.
