Kaspar Radoslaw Gorski

At 170 centimeters tall (5-foot-7), 52-year-old Kaspar is a little heavy, at
75 kilos (165.4 pounds).  Though not as trim as his younger days, Kaspar keeps fit by walking and cycling around the campus of the Uniwersytet Śląski w Katowicach (University of Silesia at Katowice), as well as the occassional practice bout with the University Fencing Team.  Kaspar still has dark brown hair, though it has gone much to salt-and-pepper, and until recently, he wore a full beard (regulations required he shave it off, when his Army commission was reactivated).  Kaspar usually has a smile on his face, and a twinkle in his dark-blue eyes, but sometimes -- when he is irritated, or even angry -- he has a frown that adds an element of danger to his countenance; he gets the kind of look one might expect to see in the eyes of a cold-blooded killer.

When he was a young man, Kaspar's homeland of Poland was a satellite state of the Soviet Union.  At that time, he was recruited into the Soviet Red Army, where his natural skill at languages and education got him an Officer's commission.  He served for several years, afterwhich he retired to the Reserves and returned to Poland and University life.  When Poland gained independence, his Reserve Officer status reverted to the new Polish Land Forces, and much of his Soviet Red Army record was Redacted.

Kaspar speaks very little about his time in the Red Army, saying only that he was required to do some "heavy stuff", and that he "never wants to be that man again".  Kaspar had almost forgotten that he was still on the lists as a Reserve Officer in the Polish Land Forces until an old (former Soviet Red Army) friend, who had stayed in the military and transferred to the Polish military after Independence, contacted him about the SGC offer to America's NATO allies -- if Kaspar was willing to rejoin the army, Poland wanted him to represent them in the prestigious offer to join the SGC.  After much thought Kaspar -- now a Professor of Anthropology -- accepted.

Kaspar tries to always be upbeat and friendly, and is often referred to as being "laid-back".  But, under stress, Kaspar becomes intensely focussed and objective driven.
