Personality:  Tommy Sullivan is a study in contradictions.  A quick witted, smart kid, he has terrible grades in school.  A big, solidly built kid, he dislikes contact sports.  He's someone who is friendly with many people...but has few (if any) actual friends.

What Tommy actually is?  He's a kid who's learned to survive.  He's learned that loyalty is the most important thing (even...no, ESPECIALLY if it isn't deserved).  He's learned that when you work up to your potential, it raises people's expectations for you...and makes them that much angrier when something happens that's out of your control that causes things to go wrong.  He learned that he has a terrible temper, and when he plays sports, he's apt to try to hurt people.

Given what he knows about how his father acts, that idea terrifies him more than anything else possibly could.

Overall Tommy attempts to be friendly and keep people at arm's length...when you let someone in, you stand the chance of getting hurt...badly.  He's seen that happen often enough (and experienced it himself) that he knows how badly things can go.  Better to never let anyone get close to give them the chance.

Physical Description: Tommy is what you call 'Dark Irish'.  He stands a bit over six feet tall and weighs a bit over 200 pounds.  He lacks a bodybuilder's definition, but obviously works hard at something.



Background: Tommy is the oldest of 5 children (2 brothers, 2 sisters), growing up in between Allentown and Bethlehem, PA.  He had a pretty typical life for the area...up until his father lost his job at Bethlehem Steel when it closed...then the drinking started...and when he began to be a bit freer with his fists.

With his mother working nights to cover the lower wages that Tommy's dad was bringing in after the plant closed and he had to take a lower paying job at the Crayola plant, Mr. Sullivan took his frustrations out on his kids...at first it was on all of the (the little ones DID cry a lot), but as he got older, Tommy was the one that caught the brunt of it more and more often, as he would redirect his dad's anger towards himself to spare his siblings the beatings.

His mother refused to see what was happening, insisting that his father was a good man...accepting her husband's explanation that Tommy "fell down a lot"...or "walked into the door knob"...or half a hundred other thin veneers of lies that he used to cover up his behavior...all the while Tommy kept taking the hits, realizing that no one could (or would) help him.

Powers: Tommy is capable of creating a "heat field" around him.  Use of his powers is very physically taxing, but while active, he can effectively bench press 15 tons in combat situations.  The field is capable of withstanding large caliber firearms and small explosives without issue.  The field gives off a high degree of heat, causing flammable materials it comes into contact with to combust (current temperature is around 500 degrees F, though the temperature can increase if he becomes emotionally volatile).

When is powers are not active, Tommy has the strength and endurance of a man of his build who engages in intense, regular physical exercise.

Skills: Tommy is a mathematical savant.  Due to his innate understanding of mathematics, he excels at code breaking and computer programming/hacking.
