Donovan was born and raised in Shadow, visited on occasion by his father, Prince Bleys, but living full-time with his Artifacer mother.  He wasn't made aware of his heritage until he was of an age where he could begin to understand the ramifications.

Donovan is known as a trump artist, a wizard, and a musician. He has made his residence in Amber since walking the Pattern, with only brief sojurns in shadow to further his studies. He has thrown himself into court life in the city.
